It all started when I chanced upon this image on Etsy.
it can be found here
and then I quickly realised that I wouldn't be able to afford them, so I decided to try to make them myself... couldn't be that hard right?
I found this website...
and this website...
and I realised that there were tons and tons of people burning little fabric circles to make the most awesome things!
I have to confess that I cheated a little. I'm a design student with access to a laser cutter machine, which essentially cuts out whatever shape I draw. So I was able to draw and copy hundreds of circles on the computer (you can use AutoCAD or Illustrator) and have the machine cut them out all for me. A pair of good sharp scissors can also do the trick.
i completely underestimated the time it would take to make these flowers. Maybe it's because I broke up the process into so many little chunks of time, but it seemed to take forever. But the end product makes me smile, not only because I saved a bunch of money on it (I spent $180 total on all the materials for 1 Bridal Bouquet, 5 BM bouquets and around 10 Bouts), but also because now my bridesmaids will have something they can keep as a handmade gift and wonderful memory for a long time! :)
but they're finally done! WOOHOO! :)
