Anchorage Wedding Planning: Weather Considerations

If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding, Anchorage shouldn’t be your first choice for the location.  Short days, long nights, and cool year-round temperatures make it a good idea to keep your wedding activities inside.  June, July, and August offer average temperatures in the low 60’s if you’re absolutely set on an outdoor Anchorage wedding, but beware of rainy days, especially in August.

Anchorage Wedding Planning: City Highlights and Dates to Remember

Anchorage is a gorgeous city that becomes rather popular in the summer months.   There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature, including everything from bird and bear-watching to sea kayaking.  An assortment of museums, parks, and the Alaska Zoo also attract summertime visitors.

If you’re planning a warm weather wedding in Anchorage, be sure to make reservations for hotel rooms, venues, and caterers well in advance to avoid any last-minute troubles.  Keep in mind that hockey season (October through May) and late November basketball tournaments can book some area hotels.

Anchorage Wedding Planning: Tips and Ideas

Nothing is ‘close by’ in Anchorage.  If you’re expecting out-of-town guests or planning a destination wedding, a car is a necessity.  It may be a good idea to consider a wedding and reception venue that also offers overnight accommodations and onsite dining – your guests will definitely appreciate the convenience.

Provide your out-of-town guests with local maps that are marked with recommended restaurants, attractions, and other points of interest.  Be sure to highlight the route to your wedding location.  With some dedicated planning, your Anchorage wedding is sure to be beautiful!
