San Francisco Wedding Reception

San Francisco Wedding Reception

When looking for a San Francisco wedding reception site, the overall weather conditions of the city encourages engaged couples to explore the many outdoor locations about town. It is here that you'll find one of the most popular public parks in the United States, as well as numerous historic California attractions. When planning your wedding reception in San Francisco, don’t be afraid to think outside the box.

San Francisco Wedding Reception Venue: Golden Gate Park

Surrounded by endless greenery and wondrous hidden gems, Golden Gate Park has seen its fair share of wedding receptions unfold. The park offers a multitude of popular gardens, including the Rose Garden, Shakespeare's Garden, and the exotic charm of the Japanese Tea Garden. Simply contact Recreation and Parks for information on obtaining a permit to hold a wedding reception in the open spaces of the park.

San Francisco Wedding Reception Venue: California Academy of Sciences

Nature lovers will find the California Academy of Sciences a rather unique place to stage a wedding reception in San Francisco. Under the "living" roof of the museum, guests will have exclusive access to the rainforest, aquarium, piazza, swamp, main lobby, and other features of the Academy from 7 p.m. to midnight on select days. To book your wedding at the museum, there is a set fee of $18,500.

San Francisco Wedding Reception Venue: Yerba Buena Gardens

With an array of outdoor wedding sites, Yerba Buena Gardens offers fascinating features, such as a 50-foot-high waterfall accompanying a moving mixed-media memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr.  A romantic exchange of vows may take place at the Butterfly Garden, the Sister Cities Garden, or surrounded by the Eastern and Western appeal of the East Garden. To hold a wedding at the Gardens, you must allow at least 30 days to process the Special Event application needed to obtain a permit.

San Francisco Wedding Reception Venue: Julia Morgan Ballroom

For an indoor wedding reception with a touch of elegance and historic appeal, the Julia Morgan Ballroom offers a site set in the historic Merchants Exchange. Upon entering the lobby, take in the sight of gold leaf, bronze, and marble features. A 20-foot palatial fireplace decorates the southern wall, while floor-to-ceiling arched windows help lighten up the interior. The Ballroom accommodates 350 people seated or 800 standing. To rent, expect prices starting at $8,500, which includes bar and lounge access.
