Under the "living" roof of the museum, guests will have exclusive access to the rainforest, aquarium, piazza, swamp, main lobby, and other features of the Academy from 7 p.m. to midnight on select days. To book your wedding at the museum, there is a set fee of $18,500.

With an array of outdoor wedding sites, Yerba Buena Gardens offers fascinating features, such as a 50-foot-high waterfall accompanying a moving mixed-media memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr. A romantic exchange of vows may take place at the Butterfly Garden, the Sister Cities Garden, or surrounded by the Eastern and Western appeal of the East Garden. To hold a wedding at the Gardens, you must allow at least 30 days to process the Special Event application needed to obtain a permit.

For an indoor wedding reception with a touch of elegance and historic appeal, the Julia Morgan Ballroom offers a site set in the historic Merchants Exchange. Upon entering the lobby, take in the sight of gold leaf, bronze, and marble features. A 20-foot palatial fireplace decorates the southern wall, while floor-to-ceiling arched windows help lighten up the interior. The Ballroom accommodates 350 people seated or 800 standing. To rent, expect prices starting at $8,500, which includes bar and lounge access.
