Celebrity couple Scarlett Johansson and her handsome new hubby Ryan Reynolds managed to keep their love affair away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi all the way up until their top secret Canadian wedding!
Wed on September 27th, the Hollywood lovebirds skipped the large guest list and extravagant ceremony for an outdoorsy event in the wilderness instead, letting nature provide the beautiful backdrop for their very important day.
The secret location? The Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, near the village of Tofino, British Columbia, where the couple’s guest list of just under 40 family and close friends enjoyed a weekend of horseback riding, mountain biking and even a little fishing excursion with the groom, according to People.com.
From romantic, deserted beachside ceremonies to nuptials in their lush fern gardens, the resort itself is known for hosting a variety of picturesque, smaller, intimate weddings, ranging from two to 50 guests. Photographers, music, a marriage commissioner and planners are all on hand to help assist with whatever type of ceremony is desired.
Like many brides opting to keep their weddings more private, sources close to Scarlett tell People the actress wanted to keep things simple, with just close family and a few select friends in attendance. She reportedly plans on having a larger celebration at a later date.
Scarlett, 23, and Ryan, 31, announced their engagement in May, 2008 after dating for about a year. It is the first wedding for both.
