Wedding Hair and Makeup Musts!

We are always looking to share the best makeup and hair tips for the lovely ladies of Project Wedding -- including the latest trends and favorite brands of expert makeup and hair stylists like beauty guru Carlie Buys!

The multitasking Carlie has done both the hair and makeup for weddings galore, and is sharing her insights and photos, starting with the biggest trends she is seeing walking down the aisle.

In: Soft, natural waves

Carlie always tells her brides to wash their hair the night before the big day, because slightly dirty hair is much easier to work with when creating waves than clean slippery tresses. Adding a oversized hair piece (like she has done in the pics above) also makes a huge style statement. Products she loves? Yanai Van to hold those waves in place and Aquage hairspray. Slicked hair, according to Carlie, is out!

In: A heavy eye with a nude matte lip

Carlie loves this look for weddings -- but stresses that for your event you want to look like a better version of yourself, and not completely like someone else. Doing a trial run of makeup and hair is absolutely critical to test the waters. Always use waterproof liner and mascara, she says. Her fave products include: Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black by L'oreal, Nars blush and Bare Minerals powder for natural yet full coverage. Mac Fix & finishing spray for the face to set that look for the whole day and night is a must!

In: Dewy makeup and low, slightly messy side buns

Carlie says that often times brides are completely set on wearing their hair down, but once they see their hair swept off to the side in this look - they fall in love all over again! It is romantic, slightly messy and a huge wedding trend right now. This soft, romantic dewy makeup (seen above) is a natural fit for blushing brides who aren't comfy wearing a ton of bold color, red lips, etc!

A final tip from Carlie: Make sure you dust a little loose powder over your face to keep the shine away - and keep it handy for touch-ups during the day and all night long. You can see more of her work and learn more about her right here!
