Everyone please share your #1 best tip for getting or staying motivated in our weight loss / fitness efforts!

Mine is, create a visualization board.  Include images which represent what you'll gain by sticking to your goals and seeing them through.  For example, if you're planning on rewarding yourself with a special something, include that.  If you have a previous photo of yourself at your goal weight, include that.    If you can compose it on your computer and print out several copies, even better - then it can be all around you: in your wallet, on your mirror at home, on your desk at work - anywhere you might need a reminder about what you're trying to do and what the benefits will be in the end.

Gain momentum... I used to try to do the whole "oh i'll go workout 2 or 3 days a week, that's not too bad; i can do that" thing....... it never worked.  I dreaded my workout days, etc.  Starting Sept 19, I decided I would go at least 5 days a week.  Since then (on week 5 now) I have gone 5 and 6 days every week.  20-90 mins every day.  I feel great!  I have momentum, and when i don't work out, I feel like poo!

Buy the 30 day shred! And commit to it! Don't ever give up, and get a buddy (preferably your Hubby or FH) and just go all in!

~~~
My biggest motivation is waking up in the morning and feeling my stomach. It has shrunk so much in the last week. I'm not bloated or anything anymore. Also, I just feel more energized and positive!
~~~

Do something that you enjoy! working out should be fun and not all "work", so incorporate something you love to do into your workout routine - whether it's playing a sport, swimming, yoga, dance, etc...

i love to dance, so DH and i take a salsa dance class once a week. even when we go to the gym, we practice our moves for 10 or 15 minutes as a warm up. it's something that i always look forward to each week and it keeps me going!

I have started recruiting my sister for weekly yoga. At least I have one activity a week I can't back out of without letting someone else down.

I have jeans that dont fit any longer.  Even though my weight loss is going well I still feel discouraged so  pout them on and see how far I have gotten.  I also tell Fi when I need a little more positive engery.  He'ss grab my but and mention how firm ti is, tell me I am sexy and kiss my neck.  Sometimes I just need the attention and to be told I am sexy and he is proud of me!

Here's  somewhat related tip (re: jeans).

Once something's really baggy on you, don't keep wearing it - splurge on at least 1 new pair of jeans if you can.   You'll feel much better wearing clothes that fit and the "non-scale victory" of being down a size is a TERRIFIC motivator to keep you going!  At least, that's how it works for me :D

i soooooo want to buy an expensive pair of jeans, but i won't let myself until i can fit into at least a size 6!!!!

If you've seen Bride Wars (which I'm sure many of you have) - the scene where Kate Hudson can't zip her Vera Wang dress haunts me.. that's my motivation!

~~~
In addition to your long term goal, make short term, reachable goals and then push yourself just a little bit further each week. when you see yourself reaching those short term goals, it will boost your confidence and that long term goal won't seem so daunting!
and it can be anything, not just lbs lost. for example:
  • doing a certain number of push ups or sit ups per week
  • jogging or walking a certain distance or length of time
  • burning a certain number of calories per week, etc
~~~

For me, it helps to remember how good I felt when I was at my ideal size--and how much I liked the way I looked.  That is often all the motivation I need!

When my Mom got remarried she had to get her dress let out a few weeks before the wedding.  I don't want that to happen to me.  I want it taken in.  =)
