A modern décor concept that's easy on the eyes and the budget.

Center your tables with small succulents and air plants for a simple and affordable décor option.

Include various shades of colored sand for a dramatic and modern presentation that your guests are sure to love!

Step One:
Use store bought craft sand, or collect sand from a beach (or the hardware store). If using beach sand, be sure to lay out the sand to dry for about a week before beginning the project.

Step Two:
Gently wet your sand with a ratio of 1 tablespoon water to 2 cups sand.

Step Three:
Separate your sand into bowls, and begin dropping in food coloring to tint the sand. You will need about 10 drops of food coloring for every 2 cups, this can vary depending on the vibrancy of hue you'd like to achieve.

Step Four:
Mix the food coloring into the sand until all of the grains are covered.

Step Five:
Spread the sand out onto baking dishes and bake at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes (until most of the wetness is gone- leaving just damp sand behind). Remove from oven and let dry out the rest of the way over night.

Step Six:
Once dry you can store sand in plastic bags until use.  Glass containers will give the best centerpiece presentation and simple succulents can easily be planted and placed inside.
