Last Minute Bridal Mistakes and How to Correct Them

Its a few hours before the wedding; you glance in the mirror and notice two huge pimples glaring back at you from your left cheek. Within minutes, your mom calls from the bedroom wondering how in the world you tore your wedding gown. Now what!?

Take a deep breath, relax, and be prepared with the following quick fixes if any last minute wedding day mishaps threaten to ruin your happiness.

Torn Straps, Broken Zippers, and Other Nightmares

Safety pins are a bride-to-be's best friend.  Hold things together with a small pin and none of your guests will notice!  Just remember to have the tear professionally repaired as soon as you return from your honeymoon.

Coffee, Makeup, and Similar Disasters

A big spot on your wedding dress is probably not your idea of the perfect wedding.  Club soda, baby powder, and a few clean washcloths are essential supplies to include in your emergency bag.  Wet the spot with a little club soda but don't rub. A bit of table salt will absorb the dampness after the stain dissolves.

Silk and rayon gowns can be more sensitive to liquids.  If your dress is made of a delicate material, or the stain is oil-based, dab a powder covered cotton ball onto the spot.  Give the powder a moment to absorb the stain and brush away the excess.  Powder or baking soda can also cover up stubborn stains that can't be removed to get you through the wedding.

Breakouts, Blemishes, and Broken Nails

Stress can be hazardous to your skin.  Wedding day breakouts are not at all uncommon.  Cover pimples with a good concealer, preferably a medicated brand, and then apply a pressed powder that suits your skin tone.  You can repeat the process if your blemish is still noticeable but don't apply your makeup too heavily.  Don't forget to bring along a small tube of quick-setting glue to repair broken nails and some clear nail polish for hosiery snags.

Whether it's the biggest zit you've ever seen or half a cup of tea on your wedding gown, remember that accidents happen and it's not the end of the world. Bring along your emergency supplies and take care of mishaps as quickly as possible, but don't let these minor mistakes ruin your wedding day.  Your friends and family are sharing your joy, not searching for pimples and stains!
