  • Printer

  • Iron

Optional Materials:

  • Wood embellishments

*All materials may be purchased at your local craft store.

  1. Paint your unfinished wood plaque with your 2 coats of your dark base paint. Let dry completely. Also paint embellishment(s) if you’ve decided to add to your sign.

  2. Paint one coat of crackle paint over your base paint and let dry completely. Also paint embellishment(s) if you’ve decided to add to your sign.

  3.  Once paint has dried, sand the edges of the plaque to create a distressed look on the wood.

  4. Using Microsoft Word on your computer, create your desired word(s) to display on your sign. Use Word Art and be sure to flip the word so that it appears backwards on the page.

  5. Print the word onto your iron-on transfer paper.

  6. Trim excess paper of the transfer paper away from your word.

  7. Place transfer paper in desired position on top of your plaque.

  8. Hold hot iron on paper for approximately 15-20 seconds.  Word should transfer effortlessly.
