Photography By: Pictilio   This 3-D heart bunting is pretty and a great project to incorporate some handmade charm into your wedding. Hang between rows of seats, behind a dessert table, vertically to stage the ceremony, or around the head table as accent décor.     For a bunting of good length, purchase a heart punch from your local craft store. The small investment (about $10) will save your wrists from cutting hundreds of hearts out! You will also need colored craft paper, glue, and string.     Stamp out hearts for the length of your bunting. Each section of the bunting will use two hearts.     Once the hearts are punched, cut a length of thin string and begin gluing on the hearts. Lay one heart down (backside up). Center a small line of glue, then quickly layer the string on top and another heart (backside down). Measure a few inches and continue the process.     Once all the hearts are laid and dried, fold the top and bottom hearts away from one another for a pretty 3D effect.     Run the lengths of garland around cardboard dividers and tape in place as you go. This will make it easier to transport without getting tangled.

By: Danyelle Mathews   Your wedding is a special day for you and your closest friends. Why not put a bit of extra thought into how you ask your besties to be your bridesmaids?     Materials: wool felt small embroidery hoop thread  needle pencil scissors glue gun glue stick

Step One Place the felt into the embroidery hoop and begin stitching. You can freehand the lettering, just use a lightly colored pencil to write out your message onto the felt. The thread will cover it when you're finished.     Step Two Tie off any loose thread ends on the back     Step Three Trim the felt, leaving about 1/2" around the diameter of the embroidery hoop.     Step Four Using your glue gun, secure the excess felt to the inside of the hoop.       Step Five Package up the completed project in a box with a simple "will you..." tag attached to the front.     Not only will your friends appreciate your thoughtfulness, they'll treasure the special handmade memento.

Looking for a less traditional cake topper for your wedding? These vintage fabric stars will bring a dose of bright charm to your cake or dessert bar.     Materials: To make them, you'll need basic star frame(s), mod podge, fabric, and scissors. Small cardboard star frames are available at your local craft store, while larger metal frames can be readily found at thrift stores or at many big box stores.     Materials (cont.): Find a fabric that coordinates with your wedding day. Search Etsy for a wide variety of pretty vintage florals or check your local fabric store for vintage replica fabrics.     Step One: Cut your fabric to the approximate size of your star and dredge it in a bowl of Modge Podge until completely wet. Place the fabric on top of your mold and use your fingers to gently shape it into form. Let dry overnight.     Step Two: Once dry, cut the fabric closer to the frame shape and turn over. Secure any extra fabric in the back with glue.     Step Three: Use wood glue to attach a stick to the backside of a large star frame. Many smaller frames come sold with small wooden sticks already attached.     Display Tip: Place one large star in your cake for a bold bright touch or scatter smaller stars atop cakes, cupcakes and desserts.

From early love lessons to SAT prep, moms teach us a lot. They're by our sides through thick and thin, and, with any luck, have been the major helping hand in many of life's biggest moments. Sometimes it seems near impossible to pay Mom back for all her love and support, but hey—she is your mom. And because she's your mom, we guarantee she'll go all misty-eyed from even the smallest of gestures. Which is precisely why we're using this Mother's Day to brainstorm thoughtful ways to show some appreciation for the lady at your wedding. Our favorite ideas (besides wearing her wedding dress, of course) follow below—let us know what you'll be doing in the comments!

    1. Have her walk you down the aisle!
Don't think you need to find a male replacement for that moment if Dad's no longer in your life. In one of our favorite features on our blog One Lovely Day, Silka was escorted by her mother, and we have never seen a woman look more proud. Another idea: give one arm to Dad, one arm to Mom, and have both parents walk you down the aisle. |
    2. Give her a flower before the altar. Dad still doing the giving away? Take a moment before you step onto the altar to give your mother a flower from your bouquet. Purposefully singling her out right before you say your vows will show her (and everyone in attendance) how crucial her support has been in getting you there. The gesture will become even more special if you tuck one of her favorite blooms into your bouquet and present her with that.   3. Set aside a space dedicated to her memory. This beautiful idea comes from one of our Twitter followers (@MsMakeItRain29): If your mother has since passed, place a framed photo of her and her favorite flowers on the chair where she would have sat.   4. Include Mom in the getting ready fun. Book her a seat next to yours while you and your bridesmaids are getting your hair and makeup done. Involving her in this girls-only tradition will let her know know that you see her as a friend and confidant, which is the ultimate compliment.   5. Incorporate her wedding wear into your ceremony. In her New Jersey wedding, Marisa draped a dear late aunt's veil over her chuppah. We think this is an excellent compromise if you'd prefer to keep your bridal ensemble to yourself, but still want to show mom some respect for her marital history.   6. Recreate a moment from her wedding day. Sort through Mom's wedding pics and select a photo you find particularly striking (bonus points if it includes her parents). Suprise her by bringing the shot to your wedding and recreating the pose with your photographer—we guarantee she'll be touched by the gesture.     Photo by Briana Marie Photography
