David's Bridal (Costa Mesa, CA)My first experience here was trying on dresses and it was awesome! I had a very nice consultant. But when we came for bridesmaid/ FG dress shopping we had a much less helpful consultant. The alterations were ok, but the ladies in that department just aren't very big on customer service. So I guess it really depends on who you get so it makes it very hit or miss. Gorgeous dresses for the price though! Overall I'm pretty happy with them.

The Event ConsultantsWe got DJ Luis and we do not recommend him. I sent in my info sheet of the event and when we talked on the phone he was asking questions that I had already answered on the sheet. His music was good but his attitude needs a lot of work. When I asked him to turn the music down a bit because guests were having trouble talking to people he said no and that he was in charge. He was very pushy on the timing of things like if we were on his schedule.

David's Bridal (Costa Mesa, CA)Unethical.
I visited this location with my family and was ready to purchase $1000 worth of dresses.
After much discussion and questioning the final prices for the dresses with the given "need by date", we were ready to ring up the order. The consultant then revealed that the dresses would require a $20 rush fee PER DRESS due to the date. The manager stated that rush fees are not disclosed upfront. This is unethical practice as brides and bridesmaids and anyone looking at these dresses fall in love with the "perfect dress", then are pressed into paying a rush fee because it won't make it in time. This store plays on the emotion of the customer and manipulates the customer into paying an additional $20 PER DRESS in order to get the dress "in time". But to top it off, we had constantly asked the consultant if the different dresses would get here by this date and that it would cost us only the price of the tag, which the consultant confirmed.
A different David's Bridal did not require the rush fee for my order and I went ahead and place it with that store instead.

Center ClubCenter Club is an incredible venue. I was worried at first but I'm really glad I decided to have my wedding here. My biggest concern was that guests might get lost trying to find the venue. (It's right next to OCPAC but could be confusing.) Also the shape of the ballroom is a bit unusual. However everything worked out perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Chris and his team were great and everything ran smoothly. And most importantly the FOOD is DELICIOUS!!!! Guests loved how the wedding was so private and intimate.. Center Club definitely will make your event special.

This is my first post to the board, since I've only just begun to delve into the process of wedding planning, so hi everyone! My fiance are planning for an August wedding next year in Orange County and have been looking around the area for a venue location. We pretty much love Park Prive in Costa Mesa, but I'm starting to becoming hesitant to make the big commitment. We love everything about the look and feel of Park Prive, and the staff has been pretty accommodating so far, but I'm holding out because I don't know much about the catering that goes on there. There are two options at Park Prive for catering: Patina, or Orange County Wine and Food center. I've heard good things about Patina, but can find pretty much NOTHING about OCWF as far as reviews and such online. OCWF is more appealing to us because it's a bit cheaper in price (obviously appealing!) but I want to make sure I'm getting a good value. I was wondering if any of you have been to a wedding or know of someone someone who had their wedding here recently? The ownership has changed recently so I'd be interested to hear about recent experiences. I just need a little reassurance before I sign my wedding away!!

Just wanted to post this again for everyone!
I went to Jaclyn's to try on a certain dress I was looking for and they are having a huge sale! All Maggie's are between $250 and $400 off the rack. The ones that are $250 are the discontinued styles and the ones that are $400 are styles that can still be ordered. They also have tons of other dress designers at 70% off. Their dresses are in gorgeous condition! Some of them look like they've never been tried on! Just wanted to let everyone know. And the girls were super nice!! www.jaclynsbridal.com

maybe i just have to venture further outside LA? i heard orange county has some good spots.

Costa Mesa Wedding Bios
Chris and I met at a Record Store in Costa Mesa, CA. I went in on a Sunday afternoon looking for Records, Yes,
Records. I collect 45's and was looking for more for the collection. I was in my favorite band's section. New Order.... Chris comes walking by and asked me if I was looking at New Order. We talked for about an hour and he then asks me out on a date
the following Saturday. We share the same taste in obscure music!
Here is what my set looks like, it's a 1.04 carat white gold ring, it's beautiful, he did so well!

Our wedding cake was provided in our venue contract via Cinderella Cakes in Costa Mesa, CA. We simply took a visit to their cake shop, chose a style from a set number of styles, tasted a few samples, chose which flavors we wanted for each tier,
and we were on our merry way. So simple.
The cake + silver cake stand were provided by Cinderella Cakes.
The cake cutter + server were bought at The Bombay Company during their going-out-of-business sale.
The toasting flutes
were bought at Crate & Barrel.
The flowers + decorations were provided by Flower Allie.
The candles + vases were DIY.
And the most lovely thing was that we didn't need to save the top layer of the cake - Cinderella Cakes will
gift us with a complimentary top tier on our 1 year wedding anniversary!

after all the planning, we're finally married! =) sorry for the delay in updating my photos and bio. things have been such a whirlwind! whew!
so my photos have been updated, and now it's time to update my bio?
what helped me throughout the entire wedding process was that i viewed my wedding as a big, fun party for all of my loved ones. having that mindset kept me from getting overly stressed since the main goal was to have fun and celebrate. =)
i was just so happy the entire day, that it's hard to describe the joy i felt. i did run into a few mishaps, such as discovering a big water stain on the front chest area of my dress as we were unpacking it, after getting my hair/makeup done (eeks!! no dry cleaner would even touch it. tip: white chalk DOES work wonders! it at least covered it up well enough that no one noticed.) and the deep fog rolling in right before our ceremony (thereby causing my hair and my sisters' hair to fall flat), BUT you can't let those things ruin your special day.
you wedding day might not go exactly as you planned it, but it's still your special day. there's no need to ruin the here-and-now because something didn't turn out quite right.
to go into some logistical items, here are the wonderful vendors i would HIGHLY recommend!
Flowers: BeBuds from Torrance, CA - Taka was wonderful! www.bebuds.com
Hair/Makeup: OnLocation Beauty in OC/LA - Sherry was great! www.onlocationbeauty.com
Photographer: Tony Schreiber from Miami, FL - You might have to fly him out to CA, but he's amazing! www.tonyschreiber.com
Dresses & Alterations (both bridal gown and bridesmaids): David's Bridal, MetroPointe, Costa Mesa, CA - Would recommend this location, since it's a large store with plenty of stock. www.davidsbridal.com
Bakery: Torrance Bakery, Torrance, CA - gorgeous and delicious cake! www.torrancebakery.com
Favors/Photobooths: PartyBooths.com, nationwide - fun, comes with an attendant, all pics get uploaded onto their website, and you get a CD of all the pictures too! www.partybooths.com
Chair covers & Table Linens: ChairCoversByMaryGrace.com from San Pedro, CA - Dahlia was super easy to work with and they had a large selection to choose from, as well as reasonable prices. They did all the set-up and removal. www.chaircoversbymarygrace.com
Invitations: www.invitationconsultants.com - they made the ordering process super easy, and with our e-proofs, we knew exactly what we were getting. They were also reaonably priced, and had a quick turnaround time.
Hotel: Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach, CA - we had a Jr Suite and we loved it! Convenient location too. www.thebelamar.com
DJ: DJ Element, Carson, CA - Lem's an awesome DJ. He has a great selection of music, and is super friendly.

Happy wedding planning to everyone! =)
