Laura is fantastic at what she does. We received so many compliments on our wedding cake. It was exactly as we contracted and executed almost flawlessly. Laura offered many non traditional cake flavors. We ordered a Strawberry Margarita wedding cake and our anniversary tier will be in Amaretto! I would recommend Laura to any and everyone.

WOW!!!! Thats what we heard all during the reception. Father Ken was our minister, and he never took his eyes off of myself, and my beautiful bride. He new the entire ceremony, including the Bible readings by heart... I had dozens of comments about him by my guests! Absolutely the best choice we made. They truly are everything we had been told they were! A+++

Thanks Father Ken for making our ceremony unforgetable!

We loved Carol, and Pizazz Photography! She was very easy to work with, gave us many free things, that other photographers charge for. She even made a wedding book for my Mom, absolutely free! Carol makes wedding MUCH easier than we could have imagined. We'll reccomend her to all our friends!

SCAM AND A CROOK!!!!! I ordered a dress from lula's boutique in November 2010 for my best friends wedding. The dresses were to come back in Feb 2011. I drove all the way from Nashville to Memphis for my fitting in November and February for alterations. The dresses were to be completed in March. Well she kept pushing things off only to find out *10* *days* *before* *the* *wedding* the alterations had not been completed and she was not going to do them. We paid Ms. Lula $220 each which included the cost of the dresses and any alterations (the dresses were only $175). We had to end up paying someone else to do the alterations which was HUGE inconvenience....not only to me but other bridesmaids that do not live in Memphis. SHE DID NOT GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK FOR THE ALTERATIONS SHE DID NOT COMPLETE!!! *Please* do not give her anymore business she is very unprofessional and now I have to take an extra day off work to go get fitted AGAIN!! Today is May 23rd and the wedding is May 28th and we found out about this the day before my bday May 17th! PLEASE PLEASE!! Save yourself the heart ache and head ache and do not give this lady your business! The lady who was willing to help us out at the last minute and has been very professional- working diligently with us is Ms. Bernice Jenkins and her number is (901) 346-6756.

We just had our wedding on April 30 2011 outside in memphis tn. We used rockin robins djs for our music on referral. Robin personally did our wedding and was fantastic. During the prep phase he helped me pick the right music for the right times and was very professional with a large repertoire of music. During the ceremony he phased the songs in and out it was seamless. For the reception he had such an outgoing and fantastic energy and got everyone dancing. He played all the songs we wanted and even had a good idea when i requested a single song with my god father. He helped to inform everyone when the cake cutting was and all the other activities. He was the best dj i have seen at a wedding, all of my guests agreed and very worth the price. I am very happy to have used Rockin Robins DJs at our wedding, it turned out fantastic.

“ Happily_MrsM: Recap Part One Preparation ”

Thursday

I took off work to get things done because time was starting to fly by.  My FI/DH was working and the little one was at school...so I had the house to myself.   I finished up wtih my programs and drove all over town looking for a wick for our candle lighter.  I also had my LAST class this night...and I needed to get a few things squared away for this.

So...after class.  I went home...and started packing.  I was also washing clothes for the three of us so that we would have what we needed to pack.  I also TRIED to clean our home so that when we returned from 7 days in paradise...everything was not CHAOTIC.

Right before class, I went to the discount liqour store and picked up two more cases of wine.  So in all, I had purchased 3 cases of wine (large bottles) about 20 2 liters of Coke and Sprite and 2 cases of water.  My caterer was supplying punch.  I took all of this home with plans to deliver the next day.

Friday

I got up super early SUPER excited to take my son to school.  My father and his family drove from Los Angeles to memphis to celebrate with us.  I was super excited to awake to learn they had just crossed into the city.  I did not plan to meet my BFF until after nine...so I treked over to Mississippi to see my dad, step mom, siblings and nephew.  I sat in IHOP with them for about 40 minutes or so just talking.

Well, my mom called and asked could I pick up her dress for her because she had no gas.  Well neither did I and I was BROKE...my payday was not until the monday before.  All  had left was money for vendors and I was actually 200 bucks short!  So...My mom was upset but got over it.

I drove home to meet with my BFF and that's when the fireworks started.  My dear HUSBAND and I had a slight argument/disagreement over money.  It ended with me in tears and him storming out of the house.  So after I cried a little more, my BFF came tro get me.  We went to pick up my dress...and to get our mani pedis done...After a lil champagne...a little pampering and a little girl time...I felt much better.  Well by this time...it was noon.  We still needed to run to my BFF's house on the OTHER side of town and pick up a table for the reception hall AND get to the reception venue to meet with a couple of vendors.  WHERE did the time go?  So we ran out her way (IN TRAFFIC), picked up the table, picked up lunch and still beat the vendor to the venue which is fgine because the room had to be set up.  So my BFF and I...set up the tables and 150 chairs.  It would have made a lot more sense if we had stopped by my house and picked up everything I had that needed to go to the reception ...no time...and no such luck.  So we stayed until 3:30 at the venue which is 5 minutes away from the church and rehearsal...and rushed BACK on the other side of town to get my son from school and get his hair cut.  I called my FI/DH at the last minute to get the 200 I needed for hair and make up.  So....  we got my son and got to my house at 4:30 or so and I packed her truck and my car with everything (which I had thankfully loaded at the door).

I quickly created reserved signs for the reception and add ribbon to the church signs and hop in the shower  as the FI/DH comes home.  He STILL has an attitude.  SO I get out of his way...dress...and tell him I will see him at the church.  I was trying to make it to my vneue before sundown to put the wine, sodas and water in the fridge so that theu would be cold the next day.  I also have to unload my favors, cake boxes, carving set, toasting glasses...etc at thevenue.

So I unload allll of this and hurry to the church.

So...half of my people are there.  My DOC was my FI/DH's aunt.  Well to add to the "drama" of the day...the DOC/Aunt's daughter (C) and my FI/DH have been very tight since childhood.  She is used to being the center of attention.  Well let's just say...three years of her talking down to me and coming at me sideways came to a halt the day after my bach party.  I had enough and gave her a GOOD cussing out (Lord forgive me).  SOOOO as a result...there was a LOT of tension.  Obviously her mom had mixed emotuions....my fam was upset because she(C) was RUDE to my family (which led to me cussing her out...) and the whole thing was just a mess.  So to add to the tension that was already in the air... My handsome Groom to be...showed up with an attitude.  It was VERY clear from his attitude that he did NOT want to be there.  Well 2 hours later...the rehearsal was over...and we were having our dinner.  While everything was very nice..(his mom did an awesome job) I was very very sad.  I felt like the next day...our wedding day was going to be a MESS because of all of the tension.  His "favorite" cousin (C) told him there was no WAY she was coming to the wedding...  Which I know is because she KNOWS that I had a lot more coming for her if she stepped for in OUR wedding trying to cause drama...which was what she had done the entire time.

So anyway...after rehearsal...he went out with the guys...and I packed and went home with my BFF.  My son stayed with his favorite aunt.  :-)  I cried and was sad...and as usual...My BFF came thru!  As we seperated silk rose petals for the next day....we sipped Riesling and watched Kim's wedding special.  Right before we turned in for the night...she gifted me a beautiful and special gift.  I cried like a baby.

I ended up texting and calling FI/DH who promised tomorrow would be a better day....

Part II coming up...

“ Michaele Salahi Abducted!? ”

Don't know about this one. Sounds like they are craving the attention.

"Real Housewives of D.C." star Tareq Salahi believes his wife Michaele Salahi was abducted in Virginia yesterday ... but he's afraid the cops aren't taking the situation seriously ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ just spoke with Tareq ... who tells us he last saw Michaele at their home around 11 AM ET yesterday ... right before he left to go to their winery.  Tareq says Michaele told him she was going to get her hair done -- but she never went to the appointment ... and she's been missing ever since.

Tareq claims he got a phone call from Michaele late last night ... from an unfamiliar Oregon cell phone number ... and she told him she was going to her mother's house, located minutes away from the Salahi home.

Tareq says he was suspicious -- so he called Michaele's mother ... who told him she hadn't spoken with Michaele and was unaware of her plans.  That's when Tareq -- fearing Michaele had been abducted -- called the Warren County Sheriff's Dept. for help.

“ 100% Texan ” by amandrew

given that our reception theme is "texas dancehall", i want to take the time to give some appreciation to our great state!

Texas As Told By Jeff Foxworthy

"Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about folks from Texas ...

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Texas ;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas ;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas ;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas ;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas ;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas ;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas ;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use  them, you may live in Texas ;

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas ;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly,' you may live in Texas ;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas  friends, you definitely live in Texas or at one time or another lived in Texas or have or hadTexas friends.

“ Rehearsal Dinner Plans ” by DesertRain

After all our pondering with our large bridal party we decided to book a private room at Memphis Championship Barbecue!

Rehearsal Dinner Plans photo 1

Their private room called "The Porch" it's all ours, hooray!

Rehearsal Dinner Plans photo 2 my daughter sneaking into the pic again lol.

This place is so awesome! Ray & I love the BBQ there and its seriously one of our fave restaurants in town. It was his idea (it was both of ours but I will let him take credit here). And we are going to have a 4th of July theme for our rehearsal dinner since our wedding will be on the 4th and our guests will be missing their regular barbecues.

We are going with "The Taste of Memphis" meal which includes (if you are vegan do not read any further)

  • baked beans
  • cole slaw
  • creamed corn
  • baked rolls w/honey butter (so yummy)
  • St. Louis style ribs
  • shredded pork
  • sliced beef brisket
  • barbecue chicken
  • hot links

We will also be giving our gifts to our bridal party at our dinner. Aside from the bridesmaids and groomsmen, the other adults (sponsors) will receive a barbecue basket that will include:

  • a bottle of wine with Las Vegas logo (for a souvenir of Sin City)
  • a bag of apple blossom tea (Memphis BBQ signature)
  • Memphis BBQ sauce
  • a personalized apron (I *may* try to DIY this to save money)

I also want to get personalized flags for favors from Oriental Trading but Ray says it's corny so we'll see.

I am also going to surprise Ray with his 49ers grooms cake on this night! OMG tons of yummy food, I will probably take some ex-lax at night so I'm not all rounded the next day on the wedding!

I'm actually super excited for this night, it's one of the events I'm looking forward to the most!

“ About us... ” by NurseAmy

Rob and I actually became friends on MySpace. He asked me out several times before I finally said yes. Since that night we have been inseparable. He has become my best friend and the love of my life. We've realized that we can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together and are busy planning our October 30th wedding (only 7 months away!). I'm still waiting for the official proposal and my ring...he promises that it's coming!

We live in the Memphis, TN area. Rob is a fireman/paramedic and I'm a neonatal ICU nurse. We have a bad dog named Hoss who acts as our child. We couldn't be happier!
