Lace/Hanky Photography, LLCThey were very friendly, and catered to my husband and I's strange wedding location. There were a few bumps, but overall their pictures were great quality.

Emily J. Hair + MakeupMy wedding day turned out beautifully, thanks to Emily J. Hair and Makeup. I felt like a queen and everyone's compliments told me I was right. The team came to my site and was even early, letting me rest easy. They were very professional!

Cedars Hall Banquet CenterI reserved to have my wedding at this beautiful venue for about a year and a half for 9/10/11. I loved the rental package because it came with bartenders, security, insurance, setting up and cleaning up, and a hall manager. The price was not too bad either. The only bad thing about this place was the hall manager. At first, my impression of her was that she is a very nice and friendly person who cares about her clients and meeting their needs. I was very wrong! She is not flexible at all. It's all about her schedule because her excuse is that she is a "school teacher" and is busy with school. She can only meet clients base on her schedule and usually won't accommodate. On the day before my wedding, I went to decorate the hall with my sisters and friends, and the hall manager was not present when she is suppose to be there. She sent her husband to help us set up, but he was pretty useless because he didn't know anything about the place. We rented out individual spoons, forks, plates, and glassware for 400 people from Cedars Hall. There were about 200 plates that were completely disgusting--it was greasy and still had left over crumbs stuck to it. Like I mentioned, no one was there to help advice us so we ended up washing the 200 dishes. Then she only prepared 200 glassware for us to set up when we rented 400 of them. We ran around in circles trying to look for someone that worked in the building to help us get more wine glasses. It was ridiculous! Then...on my wedding day...the hall manager was completely mean and rude to my guests and volunteers. Instead of meeting the bride/groom's needs, she traveled out of town to do other things. She literally wanted my friend (also my cake designer) to miss our wedding ceremony because she didn't want to show up at Cedars Hall early to let my friend put the cake together. She also made rude comments to my sisters and brother-in-law, and on top of that, she invited herself to eat our food that we catered. No one even invited her to eat because of her attitude. She is very unprofessional! She literally got in my sisters' face and said that she is the "boss" around here, but seriously, she showed no leadership skills whatsoever. I stayed patient with her all night until after midnight. I couldn't stand her attitude and impoliteness anymore, so my husband went to speak with her. She laughed and said that she was just kidding about the mean remarks that she had made to several of the friends and family members of ours. Last but not least, she will try to charge you for anything so make sure to be as clean as you can be. Don't get me wrong, but I really liked Cedars Hall, just not the hall manager. If I could, I would definitely identify her name in this review but that wouldn't be right. Oh...and there is no good service here...you have to do all the dishes, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning all by yourself so make sure to have a good hand of volunteers to help out. If you decide to rent this place, make sure that the hall manager is there on the day of decorating and early on the day of your wedding. I just think that if she is going to work and be a hall manager, then she needs to start being one instead of making excuses! My big day almost got ruined because of her!!

Netbride.comI was extremely nervous about having my bridesmaids order their dresses through netbride.com, but after reading all of the positive reviews, I figured we would give it a try! BOY am I glad we did! Their dresses were less than HALF of the retail price, and the dresses came within 3 months! I am beyond thrilled we went with them! And their customer services was amazing as well! Thanks netbride.com!

D'Amico CateringWe worked with Brenda from D'Amico and held our reception at Calhoun Beach Club. A truly gorgeous and fun venue. Our situation was a bit tricky with our ceremony being held at the Sculpture Garden we needed a rain backup. So the call had to be made very last minute for set up and we have multiple plans for set up and seating arrangement based on what the weather would allow. Through this Brenda was so easy to work with. She had great suggestions and knowledge and really listened to your requests and helped make your vision a reality. Her patience was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed working with her.
Besides the venue being exquisite, the food was extraordinary! It was definitely a major deciding factor in choosing the venue itself. D'Amico could coin the term "not wedding chicken". We chose the Sea Bass which everyone should have ordered in my opinion, and a chicken dish. I was so torn between the two I had a special "bride" plate with extra items which Brenda offered! The food was so good the Sea Bass was actually a topic of discussion. I highly recommend working with D'Amico for not only their amazing pallet, but their quality of service as well.

I am curious where all of other Minneapolis brides got / are getting married, what vendors they used / are using, ...but the Minneapolis group seems to be dead.
So Minneapolis brides come revive the group:

This is more of a vent.
Well, it's becoming more and more of a reality now that LO is truly going to alter our lives.
I was going to put in for Short Term Disability tomorrow and have my doctor sign the forms and get everything turned in. My boss is
asking how long will I take off after the baby because she is trying to get together a schedule of who is available for what projects in the coming months. I totally get that and she needs to be prepared. I do a lot of versatile work at this company;
everything from graphics, animation, design, online technologies and more. Plus I am trying to make time to get my topic down for my dissertation in between, which has not been successful lately.
Anyways, I asked DH this morning what do you think and we thought we had a plan but now it seems we may have to change it. I don't want to loose my job (again, due to being pregnant with the last one) and being on STD would not leave me with a
hot seat when I was through with STD.
I am wondering if I should take a few months off instead of the full STD time and then go back part time and then transition full time? But again, I may not be fully recovered depending if I need surgery or
not.
I am not sure yet. All of this really depends on my recovery time. I'm still considered high risk and we do not know yet how the little guy is going to come into the world. Plus, if I will be on bed rest afterwards, have
complications while delivering and more. I can't judge when I will return and my doctor will have to sign off on when they think it is best for me to come back.
I honestly do not know what to say yet because he can come anytime between now and 40
weeks, even though I am measuring ahead by 3-4 weeks, and I don't even know if I'm dialated yet. I haven't had any strong contractions, no threats of water breaking or bloody show etc. I'm basically just crusing along until he decides to make his way
and my body does it's own thing. But then again, I may go in tomorrow or this weekend and they say he is getting pretty big, we can induce or do a c-section due to the fibroids on Oct. 3rd or something or other.
We haven't even settled on a daycare yet. I hate thinking about loosing my job when I already went through this with the previous job I had. This company has been WONDERFUl to me thus far and have made accomodations with me being at home and me still pushing through days of pain and being on medication to get work done, even working up to 12 hours or more and sometimes at night to make up for time that I have missed during the day. No complaints from them, as long as I have been able to get work done, even on the weekends.
Maybe I'm overreacting but I always think the worse when usually it isn't, just to brace myself. What will be, will be, but I truly hope that if I am able to take off full STD time, that it doesn't come back to bite me. I am a valuable asset and I've been able to jump in on projects that no one else could do as well as do the programming and other aspects. I really want enough time to bond with baby, recover my strength and go through all of the physical and emotional up and downswings in proper time and not just rush back.
I think once I speak to the doctor tomorrow and DH in full length and get together our POA, that will help me get my mind right on this stuff.
Okay...I had to get that out.

I'm 27 years-old and marrying a wonderful man that I've been with for four years. We are on a tight budget, so I am making all the decor, stationary and details myself. It's been a fun process and has renewed my love of arts & crafts projects. Project Wedding's articles have been very helpful for planning my wedding.
I've started posting some of my projects on my blog - http://birdsongartblog.blogspot.com

Hello! My name is Danielle and I am marrying Austin, the love of my life, on October 10, 2009.
We are getting married and having our reception at the Saisbury House in Des Moines, Iowa.
We are both from Iowa- Webster City and Van Meter- but we now live in Minneapolis together. We both attended Iowa State University and we met at a party Austin had in January 2005. We started dating in November of 2005 and we got engaged October 29, 2008.
Driving back and forth the four hours from Minneapolis to Des Moines is not as much fun as you might think ;) but I am so excited to start planning my new life!!

Picking out my wedding dress was one of the first things I did as a new bride-to-be. I saw this dress on the Eden Bridal website, and I became obsessed! I couldn't even look at another dress until I had a chance to try this one on, if for nothing else than to get it out of my head. I emailed bridal shop after bridal shop to see if they carried a sample of this dress...no luck. Finally, I emailed the manufacturer. It turns out that only one bridal shop in MN ordered a sample of this style dress... Rush's Bridal in Minneapolis. I went to the shop and tried on the dress, which happened to be just my size and was being sold "off the rack." I knew then and there that this dress was "the one." One week later I bought the dress... I didn't even have to try on any others!

We are getting married at the First Unitarian Sociey. We loved the feel of this church. It is grand and gorgeous but not as "churchy"....and it has beautiful two story windows along the whole right side that overlook downtown Minneapolis and the Walker Art Center.
Our reception will be held at the Five Event Center in Uptown (Minneapolis). We loved the modern feel that it has and think it will be perfect for our party. It is two stories, with the main bar and reception area on the first floor, and seating for guests, second bar, and dance floor on the top. It used to be an old police precinct, then a restaurant, and is now an event center. We love it!
