Jihan Abdalla PhotographyJihan did an amazing job at my weddin! She was professional and patient with my large, unorganized family. She gave awesome suggestions and was a great help on our big day. The pictures came out fantastic and I would love to work with her again. She is worth every penny and more! Thank you so much!

Jihan Abdalla Photographymy husband and i got married this year on may 28, 2011. our wedding exceeded all our expectations, it was truly the most amazing 2 days of our lives! jihan, our photographer, was a HUGE part of why our wedding was magical and captured EVERY single moment of our wedding! first of all, she and her assistant valerie have such wonderful personalities - that helped our day go so seamless.it was important to the both of us that we have a photographer capture candid moments throughout the day- jihan managed to do just that! our photographs are INCREDIBLE! With as large a wedding as we had (~700 people), they were everywhere capturing every important moment thoroughly. We were so lucky to have found jihan, and she actually not only worked the wedding but she felt like a member of the wedding party. We highly recommend her and guarantee you will not be disappointed!!!

AMS Entertainment-Santa BarbaraTraveling from out of the area, my wife and I were extremely nervous about choosing vendors. Music is a huge priority for us and the DJ can make or break the event. Sean was the consummate professional from the day we walked into his office. He worked with our style, priorities and spent time getting to know us so that he could help create the perfect event. We loved the high-tech website where we could listen to examples online and pick our favorites on the fly. Sean and AMS have connections to other add-ons such as lighting, furniture and music for the ceremony. He was able to pull some strings and get a baby grand piano for the reception. The day of the ceremony, Sean took the reigns of the schedule and was in constant communication with my wife and I, and flexed to cover some of the inevitable snafus. I couldn't recommend Sean and his team more. "Thanks for making our reception unforgettable, Sean!"

Kristen Beinke PhotographyWe absolutely loved working with Kristen. From the very start we knew that she was perfect. We met with several other photographers in the area and as soon as we sat down with Kristen we saw her pictures were above all others. Planning a wedding out of state has its challenges, and Kristen would answer every question very quickly. She doubled as my wedding planner and everything she recommended turned out wonderful as well! It was like working with a friend the day of, and helped us relax. The pictures turned out beautiful and I would recommend her to everyone!! Thanks Kristen!

Does anyone know a vendor that JUST sells homemade lemonade? I wanted to have a lemonade reception (basically a light appetizer reception with lemonade-no meal) but I am having a hard time finding a vendor that can do this. Its way too much work to make it, though I have considered making a lemonade concentrate the day before.... and I didn't want to use the powdered stuff.

Has anyone had their wedding ceremony at Alice Keck Memorial Gardens in Santa Barbara? If so, how many guests did you have? What time of year was it? And can I see some pictures of the ceremony? And did you like the place?
Thanks!

Thinking of going on a minimoon after the big day in May.
Which do you recommend?
Why?
What shall we see there/do/eat/stay?
**EDIT**I actually don't really do much of the partying night life, but love to go out to great restaurants, and I love sightseeing and shopping. I hate the cold! and I just want to have something to see and do the whole week/weekend that we spend there, KWIM?

My name is Kelly Oshiro and I am a wedding planner based in Santa Barbara. My passion is to plan weddings that have great style-- simple, modern, and elegant. I'm a big believer that you don't have to spend a lot to get a "couture" look for your
wedding -- it just takes a little planning! I started this blog to help destination Santa Barbara brides get acquainted with local vendors and see reviews of Santa Barbara's many locations. I want Brides to find their inspiration and to give them
the tools to translate that vision into their own unique celebration.

We had planned a trip to Santa Barbara for the weekend. My FI Brent had originally told me that we had reservations at a place called Eagle Inn. When we arrived in Santa Barbara on Saturday, though, Brent said he had a surprise for me in Goleta (10 minutes north of SB). We pulled up to a place called Bacara, which turned out to be a lavish resort (with lots of celeb clientele). Brent revealed that he had booked a massage for me there because he had heard the spa was great. After my massage, I was presented with an envelope that contained a hotel room key. I found the room, which had a note from Brent indicating that we were spending the weekend there and a map leading me to where Brent was waiting. He was there, all dressed up, on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Then he proposed! I squealed with happiness (and then cried from joy, too). We had dinner at a great restaurant that night and continued to have the most romantic and enjoyable weekend ever.

We're lobsters! (nerdy "Friends" reference) We met in 1999 as undergraduates at the University of
California, Santa Barbara. We were first acquaintances, friends, best friends - and then fell out of touch. Six years after we met, we were both single at the same time, for the first time! We were constantly ships passing in the night, and in
April 2005 we collided - ha ha. Bates proposed in November 2006, and our wedding will be in January 2008.
Ann is a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Davis and adjunct faculty at Napa Valley College.
Bates is an
