What a mess this company is! When we first booked, we spoke with Joey and he was a delight…though I must say I feel deceived now. He showed us a stretch SUV limo that my husband & I wanted just for us for our drop off to venue & pick up. It was everyone’s understanding that this was going to be used for BOTH drop off & pick up. When the limo arrived at my parents’ house I was a little bit taken aback because of the condition of the stretch SUV….it had some obvious dents and nicks that especially stood out on a white vehicle. Inside the ceiling had some holes in the fabric, the driver told us not to change the radio station,...I assume because it was broken?.... and the heat was not working. I was excited, so I didn’t want to nitpick. Minutes after we left, he got word that the party bus my husband’s mother booked did not arrive. They needed one for about 12 or so people. So OUR driver pulls over, saying he doesn’t want to get going only to have to turn back to pick my husband’s family up. We said NO, this limo was booked for us only. He would not listen to reason and would not get going until the matter was settled…making me LATE for hair & makeup, which then delayed our ceremony 20 minutes!!!! I heard later on that he flat out asked my husband for a tip too! That’s not even the worst of it….. The guy who picked us up was in a simple stretch town car, which we did NOT book. We had the stretch SUV. When I asked him about this he said…“This IS a SUV!”…Um…okay?? That limo inside was dirty. It had makeup left over on the seat from the previous passengers. There were dirty cups all over the bar!!!! The heat was broken and the temp had dropped at that point. The divider was also broken! We even asked the driver to get it to work and he couldn’t. When we finally got back to my parents’ house and we unloaded all of our things, this driver (it was a different one) said to my husband “I guess I’m not getting a tip. You know I work for a living!”…I was horrified! I sent an email to the company complaining about our experience, the manager harassed us to get back to him, sending multiple emails and called because he apparently wanted to fight with us. He called me a liar and threatened that he would take us to court if we left any reviews because that’s “defamation of character and slander”. He told us he has the rebuttal photos ready! LOL I bet…
This company is terrible. I'll also add that my mother in law's party bus broke down! They told her it was "in the contract" that she would have to pay regardless of mechanical troubles. All lies! The heat was also broken on their bus!
I wish I read the reviews other brides left because they complain about the same things- how the limos aren't cleaned out in between pick ups and how unprofessional the drivers are and how completely boorish the owner is!!!! Save yourself the headache and go with a company that has a fantastic reputation!!!!!!! Spend your money wisely.

A bunch of friends and I rented a bus for a city night in July 2011, there were about 20 of us. I really wish I saw all the other horror stories before booking with them. The bus arrived on time but when everyone got on, the entire bus smelt like diesel fuel. We asked the driver why it smelt so bad he said he just fueled up and that the smell would go away in a little bit. He said he couldnt put the ac on yet so it was hot. we started driving, the driver was a maniac (you would think he would drive carefully with all those people drinking and walking around) Immediatly there were drinks on the floor which we were trying to clean up with what we had bc the company didnt have anything. Everyone was in nice dresses, by the time we got there everyone was sticky and sweating bc the driver wouldn't turn on the ac.
So when we left to go home ar 2am the driver was on time, but the same thing it smelt like diesel so bad. So the driver once again said he just filled up so it will go away soon.. It was so much worse on the way home, everyone was getting headaches and dizzy from the fumes (windows didnt work) so we had to pull over bc the driver was getting dizzy. So we all got out and tryed to air it out a little bit. In the mean time we were calling the company to try and get another bus or anything to come get us. The company said there is nothing else available. That was crazy to me. About 10 people decided they couldnt wait anymore and took the train home. 2 people took taxis home. I just wanted to get home so a couple of us we decided to take the bus and just deal with it. When we got home and got off the bus the driver said he needed the bus spottless otherwise we would get charged with a 200 cleaning fee.. That was crazy to me, why would we have to clean it?!?!? So at 6 in the morning we were cleaning sweeping the freaken bus out. I called Monday to complain and try to get money back, NO ONE CALLED ME BACK I coulnt get anyone on the phone, and when I finally got a manager he said he would take care of it and never called me back.. I dont even know what to do at this point. I am so fed up I just dont even want to deal with it. It was the worst experience EVER! Please read these reviews before going with company. I couldnt image being a bride and having these problems, thank god it wasnt my wedding and it was just a night out. I am very temped to go to BBB!

Karen is AMAZING!!!! She was absolutely wonderful to work with and her final product made my wedding day. I used a lot of hydrangeas, which unfortunately couldn't handle the heat on the big day, but they were beautiful. She provided the centerpieces which were unique to my theme and everyone LOVED them. She really helped me with the planning and any idea I had regarding the decorations. She took my ideas and brought it all to life. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Thank you Karen for making my wedding an even more beautful day than I could have ever imagined!

Rebecca was AWESOME! Her voice was so beautiful and so many of my guests agreed. They all asked who she was. I took a chance and booked her for my wedding ceremony without meeting her, I just listened to her samples. She was so great to work with, I wish the day of I could of had more time to talk with her to tell her how much I loved it. I did something different and walked out to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and she altered it for the way I wanted even though it wasn't her style. It was perfect! I highly recommend her, she was fantastic. Thanks so much Rebecca, we loved it all.

RUN AWAY!!! This is an awful place. Don't let the pretty dresses and nice employee fool you, the owner is a mess!!! I ordered bridesmaid dresses in August the girls had a fitting got measure the whole 9 yards. In about mid-October my girls received an email asking for their measurements (for them to do it themselves) again. Why??? No clue. In the beginning of December I received a picture of my dresses.... the wrong color. The owner insisted that it was the lighting on the camera and still had them shipped. What do you know WRONG COLOR. They re-ordered the dresses and got re-measured again. 3rd time.... why because NO ONE knows what they are doing there. We got to have a meeting with the owner Iris. She didn't offer to pay or shipping or alterations NOTHING!! She put us through bridesmaid HELL over Christmas and didn't think that she needs to compensate us at all. I needed up having to ask her to pay for the alterations. We also got to see the dress that was ordered the wrong color and it was so poorly made I wanted to die. The hem bubbled and the stitching was so crooked. Turns out the dresses are made at an “Asian Chop Shop”, (that’s what we ended up calling it). We ended up leaving that day nervous and not confident at all. 2 days later I got an email from Iris letting me know that one of the dresses was ordered in the wrong length and she isn't going to have it re-made. WHAT!! This dress is for a pregnant girl, we can't have her "girl parts" hanging out! Iris didn't care. I had no choice but to cancel the dress order 2 months before my wedding. Nothing is done right here, the owner Iris... yep has a full time job other than her bridal store (and it so so shows). The phone number is actually an employee’s cell phone number. All I have to say is RUN!! Don't waste your time here!!!! AWFUL!!

“ DH has a temp job! ”

And it may turn into a "real" job soon! Right now they call him daily if they need him or not but today they told him they will need him the next three days which is a step up! he is gutting fish (I know so glamorus) and we are back with my mom out of necesity. She is doing a little better now and is less crabby. I laid down some ground rules about money and food before we came back and hopefully it prevents further problems. Zephaniah is already 10 pounds and eats like a cute little piggie! Johnathon is doing well and turnds 3 in a few weeks (which I totally can't believe!) I am doing okay. I am a little depressed still but I am trying to just get through things as best I can.

Anyway, I am sorry I hadn't updated you ladies in a while but having two babies and juggling the living situation has been tough. Hopefully we should have our own place soon and I can get back into PWing. :-)

“ Changing Temp Time? ”

In June, my work schedule changes for 7 weeks and I'll be waking up an hour earlier.  Right now, we've been temping and charting to get a handle on when I ovulate and how long my cycles are.  We plan to ttc full force in June.  Should I change my temp time to an hour earlier now or just start with the cycle that will be in June?  Also, once the 7 weeks of the earlier schedule is over, do I just go back to tempting at my regular time?  TIA!

“ temping quest ”

so as you may already know from my "woot woot" post I finally got my positive OPK yesterday morning.  DH and I BD last night. (yippie)  This morning I woke up at 5:15 (DH has been waking up very early for work) so I temped 97.3 (still low) --- I did not get out of bed and it took me about 20 mins to fall back to sleep. When I woke up again at 6:40 (normal temping time) my temp was 98! (higher then any other temp I've had this cycle)  I took another OPK and it was negative.

So my question is which temp do I count?  The low one - which means I have more time.  Or the high one - which looks like I O'd.

I know that I should BD tonight anyway - but DH and I are both very stressed at work right now and honestly I just want to go to bed tonight. We BD last night (CD 26) and on CD24.  Think I'm good?

“ DIY Crystal Tree Centerpiece ” by its.nicsknack

small bio photo

The original inspiration is elegant, yet too simple for my taste. For our Centerpieces, we'll be doing half with Crystal Trees and half with a the submerged orchid (above). ***Update*** My DIY Mock-up is finally complete! My FMIL picked up a few manzanita branches from the SF Flower Mart and I couldn't resist playing a little. I found the urns on sale at michael's.

DIY Mock-Up:

DIY Crystal Tree Centerpiece photo 1

Supplies purchased/used:

  • Crystals: www.shopwildthings.com (crystals sold as "beaded curtains") They're acrylic crystal stands.  I simply cut the strands from the curtain rail and then cut them into various lengths to hang on the branches.  **They're also the same crystal strands I used as a prop in my boudoir pics...lol**
  • Branches: SF Flower Mart And from www.bloomsandbranches.com
  • Base/Vase (Urn): Michael's (local craft store)
  • Silk Orchids: Michael's (Purchased on stems)  I trimmed blooms with wire cutters and used low-temp glue gun to adhere to branches.

Ribbon (on "table"): SF Flower Mart

Votives (not pictured): www.FlowerSupplies.com

Tools needed for this project:

  • Low-temp Glue Gun & Glue sticks (to adhere flowers and crystals to branches)
  • Spray Foam Insulation (found at hardware stores & is typically used to fill cracks and crevices around doors and windows during construction).  Its inexpensive, light-weight, extremely easy to use and VERY sticky!!!  Be careful when using...whatever the foam gets on, its there forever...seriously.
  • Painter's Tape (to hold branches in place in the Vase/Urn while filling with foam insulation)
  • Wire Cuters (to snip silk flowers off stems).

*Total Cost: Approx. $25 each centerpiece (not including Tools, Ribbon, and Votives)

Assembly:

I used spray foam insulation to hold the branches in place.  It worked really well...inexpensive, light-weight and easy to use.  I used "painter's" tape to wrap around the base of each branch and secured to the vase/urn just the way I wanted it to set (see picture below).  Once the tape was secure, I sprayed the foam according to the directions.  Remember to allow for the expansion.  Most foam insulation doubles in size.  To ensure it dried thuroughly, I sprayed one layer at a time.  It took about an hour to dry to the touch.  Once filled and dried, I removed the tape and used extra crystal strands to cover the foam.  It looks almost like the vase/urn was overflowing with crystals.  *TIP: Between use of the spray foam, leave the straw on the can and leave it filled with the foam.  It will expand within the "straw" by oozing out a little.  Let it dry like that...it will keep from the entire can from drying out.  When you go to use it again, gently press the "trigger" and the dried foam in the straw will push right out.  Use wax paper on your work surface to keep the foam from sticking to your table/work surface.

DIY Crystal Tree Centerpiece photo 2 DIY Crystal Tree Centerpiece photo 3

Once the crystals were cut from the curtain rail, I cut them into varying lengths (approx. 24"-30" or so)  Drape crystals on the branches.  You can add as many as desired.  I've seen some trees that are filled with crystals and look like Weeping Willow trees.  I preferred less.  For my branches, I used about 15 strands of crystals for each branch.  I placed the strands so the hang on the branch about midway of the strand.

Add silk blooms (if desired).  I put 2 blooms together (back-to-back) so that the back of the bloom didn't show.  I placed five pairs throughout each branch (10 blooms per tree).  In terms of design, odd numbers are best for arranging things like this.

I used votive candles on the tables for ambiance and to add sparkle to the crystals.  Extra crystal strands were used as filler/cover on the top of the base.  In place of table runners, I used ribbon.  I pre-cut them into desired lengths (same length as table linens) and re-rolled them for easy storing and transporting.

I purchased my crystals from www.shopwildthings.com.  They're acrylic crystal strand "curtains."  I simply cut the strands from the curtain rail and then cut them into various lengths to hang on the branches.  **They're also the same crystal strands I used as a prop in my boudoir pics...lol**

Ceremony Location - verandas, manhattan beach verandas has a beautiful outdoor garden for ceremonies. it's a tad small, but it lends itself well to beautiful decoration for any color palette, and it has a great little fountain. also, it has a lot of foliage and flowers and a leafy archway, in case you don't want to spend too much on ceremony decor.   Officiant - alex choi   Reception Location - verandas, manhattan beach the reception area at verandas is divided into two floors-- dining room on the first floor and lounge and dance floor on the second floor. at first i thought this would be inconvenient, but it helped to set the pace of the reception really well, and it's decorated beautifully. also neutral enough so that it would go with nearly any color scheme.   Caterers - new york food company verandas is owned by the NYFC, a catering company in the LA south bay area. they have great service, amazing food (especially considering the volume at which it's produced), and great presentation.   Cake Creator - new york sweet exchange the bakery arm of our caterers, they provided us with a delicious and beautiful looking cake! we couldn't have asked for more from our caterers.   Florist - be buds taka, the owner, is ingenious in his floral designs. he was able to perfectly execute everything that i requested, and he helped me to develop the floral design of the wedding without being overbearing in providing his opinions. he was extremely helpful, very professional, and so accommodating. highly recommend him!   Photographer - jerry yoon hands down the best money we spent on our wedding. jerry and ingrid are true artists in their photography, and they're great people to boot. we're so happy with our pictures, and couldn't have asked more from the people charged with capturing our memories. their work speaks for themselves, so to see more, go to www.blogjerry.com.   Videographer - well spun weddings we haven't gotten our final product quite yet, but if it's anything like the samples on their website, we'll be more than happy. also, the videographer who came out to film our wedding was the nicest guy and totally unobtrusive. he wasn't in any of our wedding photos-- a big plus!   Disc Jockey - night life entertainment devin was a great DJ-- totally professional and not at all obnoxious. he also was willing to go the extra mile when problems came up unexpectedly. our laptop wouldn't connect to the projector for our slide show, so he had someone drive a dvd player all the way up from orange county!   Invitations - sara siri a good friend and a bridesmaid, sara is a recent grad of art center in pasadena. as you can see from the pictures, sara does amazing work. she was able to give us invitations, programs, and other collateral that had a cohesive theme, fresh design, and beautiful printing. we were so fortunate to have her as part of our wedding!   My Dress - beautiful day bridal i got a great price on my pronovias dress, with a bunch of freebies thrown in! they let me borrow my veil and accessories (minus shoes) for free, and they even did my alterations gratis. they have a huge selection of dresses to rent and to purchase, and they can also create custom designs. be forewarned, though-- you might have some trouble if you don't speak korean or at least go with someone who does.   Bridesmaid Dresses - jenny yoo gorgeous bridesmaids dresses, but my bridesmaids had a lot of difficulty in altering and wearing them. the dresses kept slipping down! nonetheless, the dresses came out beautiful in pictures and the bridesmaids looked fabulous!   Hair Stylist - andre's beauty salon DO NOT RECOMMEND. despite everything working out in the end, we had a lot of problems at the bridal salon. they had to redo my MOH's hair 3 times because they kept giving her shirley temple curls and trying to pin her hair back like a little. also, i brought a picture of what i wanted my hair to look like, and the end product looked nothing like the picture. when i tried to tell the stylist that it wasn't what i wanted, she didn't understand why i was upset and kept telling me that what she created was better. =/ in the end, everything looked ok, but i was definitely not impressed with the customer service.   Makeup Artist - andre's beauty salon although the hair was a disaster, i was happy with the makeup. it was natural and light, but held up for the whole day, including the fake eyelashes. would recommend this place for makeup, but definitely not for hair.   Wedding Coordinator - sara lehnberg sara was the coordinator from verandas-- she was FANTASTIC. we were going to hire a separate day-of coordinator, but it was totally unnecessary as she took care of everything and then some. because she was so good, i was able to leave everything in her capable hands and do nothing more than enjoy our wedding and hang out with our guests. she was great at keeping everything on track, and she thought of everything that i would have totally overlooked. to me, sara was the best thing about having our wedding at verandas! “ DIY Table Numbers w/Cork Stands ” by its.nicsknack

DIY Table Numbers w Cork Stands photo 1DIY Table Numbers w Cork Stands photo 2

I designed these on the computer as I did with all the other stationary projects.  I then had the local print/copy center print them on the same creamy shimmery paper used for all of my stationary.  I then mounted them onto a dark brown paper, cut just a 1/4" larger than to create a border.  I carefully cut the corks to hold the card.  Once placing the card into the corks, I quickly realized it wasn't stable enough.  I then added a 3rd cork to stabalize the stand by glueing it with a low-temp glue gun.

“ DIY Bridal Shower Favors for Under $1ea ” by its.nicsknack

DIY Bridal Shower Favors for Under 1ea photo 1

A few months before my own wedding, my MOH was hosting her sister's bridal shower.  She called me in a panic when she realized she had completely forgotten about favors and wish box.  With not much time left, I jumped in to help.  We brainstormed and concluded that the lovely bride, her sister, loves candles and daisies.  In fact, daisies were part of her wedding theme.  I ran to good ole Walmart, the Dollar store and Michael's.  I found candles at the Walmart, "silk" flowers on stems and in bunches at the Dollar store, and ribbon, paper & boxes at Michael's.

Candle Favor Supplies/Materials: (Note: pricing calculated per dozen, then broken down)

  • Votive Candle & Holder (Walmart $6.99/dozen) = $0.59 each *can also be found at Michael's for $7.99/dozen.
  • Ribbon (Michael's, 1 spool per dozen at $2.50/roll) = $0.20 each
  • "Silk"/Fake Flowers (Dollar Store, 1-1/2 bunches per dozen at $1/bunch) = $0.13 each  *can also be found at Michael's, 1/2 bunch per dozen at $3.25/bunch.
  • Cardstock for tags (Michael's, 1/2 sheet per dozen at $0.99/sheet) = $0.04 each  *Tags are optional, cardstock scraps can be used.

**The total cost per candle favor is approximately $0.96 each

Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
  • Specialty decorative scissors for tags (optional)

Assembly:  Wrap ribbon around votive holder and tie bow.  Trim excess ribbon leaving neat ends.  Remove flower heads from stems.  This typically can be done by simply sliding them off.  If they don't slide off, you try scissors or wire cutters to remove the flower heads.  Trim any remaining stem from the back of the flower as closely to the back of the flower head as possible to give a flat surface.  This will make attaching the flower to the ribbon much easier.

Use the low-temp glue gun to attach the flower to the center of the ribbon bow.

DIY Bridal Shower Favors for Under 1ea photo 2

If opting to have a tag, simply cut small tags into desired shape and size.  For a little flare, use decorative border scissors.  Once the tag is completed, use glue gun to attach to the ribbon on the opposite side as the flower.

DIY Bridal Shower Favors for Under 1ea photo 3

*Tip: If your votive holders are tapered, you might find your ribbon slipping down.  If your ribbon slips, add a small dab of glue with the glue gun under the ribbon.  This should hold to the glass and prevent the ribbon from sliding.

Wish Box:

DIY Bridal Shower Favors for Under 1ea photo 4 DIY Bridal Shower Favors for Under 1ea photo 5

I couldn't find boxes in the right colors.  The bride loves summery, bright, fresh colors.  The bottom box is more of an orange, but for some reason looks pink in the picture.  I found some paper in my own craft box at home to cover basic boxes purchased at Michael's.  I cut a slit in the top for the "wish" note cards.  The ribbon and flowers on the top really finished the simple look.  I purchased pre-made note cards at Michael's and added some flare with a fancy paper punchers that I found in my craft supplies at home :)  We used the punched out daisies as confetti on the tables.  It was really cute!

Wish Box & Note Card Supplies:

  • Box or Boxes
  • Paper to cover plain boxes (optional)
  • Note cards (or paper to cut into note cards)
  • Ribbon
  • Silk Flowers or other decorative embellishment for top.

Wish Box & Note Card Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Glue or double stick tape to wrap boxes (optional)
  • Decorative paper punches
  • Low-temp glue gun and stick

Wish Box & Note Card Assembly:  Wrap boxes with decorative paper (if desired).  Cut a slit in the top of the box for note cards.  Wrap ribbon around boxes.  Attach flowers to top with low-temp glue gun.  Use paper punches to spice up note cards.

I gave these Candle Favors another try for my Aunt's upcoming bridal shower.  The colors were inspired from the bright and cheery pink and purple daisy napkins.
