I, like Mrs. KC, also used Paper-Papers for my RSVP envelopes. They come in various sizes and allow you to search by size too (great!) I got the Wausau Royal MarbleĀ® A2 Envelopes and I spent $40 for 250 envelopes (including tax and shipping). The envelopes were of good quality and I love how in the package they gave you samples of other popular colors and weights of paper. I received the package in about 2 weeks (but I had UPS ground), but it came in a nice box and everything was clean and nothing's out of place. All in all, I highly recommend this online vendor =)

I submitted the picture of how I wanted my hair for the wedding day and they did a wonderful job! Same with the make up. I got lots of compliments that day!

Very good service, they were able to put our wedding together with very little time ahead. Their food was great and the attention was awesome too! The only complaint we had is that we had a slideshow of our pictures and the hotel's projector was too old with very bad color so the slideshow did not look very good and they were not able to fix the problem.

“ DIY Petal Cones-need advice! ”

Hi Ladies,

I am planning on making my own Petal Cones for the reception to hold rose petals to be thrown when we walk down the aisle. Anyone have advice on how to make these? I'm not super crafty, so I appreciate any tips and tricks.

Thanks

-Rachel

“ Am I crazy?? ”

I had my original invite sample printed on 90lb kinkos cardstock. To save money I went to office max today and bought a ream of 110 lb cardstock from Wausau Papers and did my second sample on those. When I got them back, they seem a lot flimsier- isn't a higher weight supposed to be thicker?? The only thing I can think of is maybe they printed my original ones on 110 lb on accident? But 110 lb is the highest they offer, so shouldn't they at least be equal???

Anyone have a good paper brand? I noticed the ream I bought had a less bright white color to it too :(

“ About Shmel ” by shmel

The "Sh" part:  Shaun:  Grew up in Rhinelander, Wis. He moved around quite a bit after leaving home.  He now works as a manager for Family Video.

The "Mel" part:  Melissa:  Grew up in Medford, Wis.  She moved to Wausau and went to college.  Since graduating college in 2000, she has worked at a law firm.

How they met:  Shaun was a manager-in-training at Family Video and bounced from store to store.  He finally ended up at the store where I worked part time.  He says that I had a "mysteriousness" about me that he just wanted to find out more.  So after a couple attempts, I finally agreed to hang out.  We spent quite a bit of time getting to know each other and taking it slow.  Soon after we got into a groove, Shaun got transferred to Ohio for work.  I had been in long distance relationships before and knew they were hard.  So instead of officially dating, I decided we should have a "M.N.R." (monogamous non-relationship).  So for 6 months or so, we talked daily and visited once a month.  Then in April 2006, I decided that it was time to make throw out our title of MNR and become boyfriend/girlfriend.

The Engagement:  It was our 2 year anniversary.   I had worked during the day and FI had off.  We went out to eat after work and then came home and took our furbaby, Sadie, for a walk.  He was acting a little weird..getting phone calls all the time and such.  We then went to the park near our house.  There was a little island with a bench on it and the closer we got, I noticed a blanket on the bench.  I said "oh someone is already using it".  We got even closer and noticed it was my blanket!!!  So we sat down and he had wine and strawberries in a basket.  He was standing behind me with Sadie and I was just sitting and watching the water.  When he said "what do you think about wearing this home this weekend?"  I was in shock and just said, "are you serious!?!?"  After the shock wore off, I of course said yes and cried.  We then walked home and called EVERYBODY!!  (Please ignore my very wrinkly hands.  It was like 30 below when I took this picture!)

The Big Day:  We decided to stick close to our dating anniversary and picked April 24, 2010.  I wanted plenty of time to plan so I didn't stress out, hence the two year engagement.

“ Invitations ” by pennypretty

Making my own pocketfolds, inserts, belly bands, monograms, etc.

The paper I originally wanted has been discontinued so I'm currently on the hunt for something to replace it or at the very least trying to track down some vendors that still have it in stock.

These are just digital mock-ups of what I'm working on.Invitations photo 1

  1. Our monogram. I wanted something circular potentially with dots and or an infinity symbol. Threw the idea past FI and he and I agree this is our monogram!

The squiggly plus sign beat out the actual numerical plus sign I was kicking around in other iterations. But it is in fact two infinity symbols perpendicular to one another.

  2. Invitations photo 2Our Invitations. I wanted to do different papers in different shades of blue. Still searching for the perfect metallic paper for our pocketfolds, but thus far this is my idea.

The colors aren't completely correct. But that blue dotted paper is a definite (Wausau dotted washi).

I'm thinking I might do a paper belly band. When we were working on my friend Laura's invitations the fabric ribbon belly bands were a huge pain in our butts to get together.

The monogram on the belly band will be embossed.

As for the insides, I'm still working on designs for things here and there. Obviously since we haven't nailed down all the particulars: venue, ceremony site, etc. we can only really guess where things will take place and what the directions and whatnot will be.

But here's the inside of the invites:Invitations photo 3

The envelopes will be a really pretty dark blue, A7. With font Scriptina Pro printed on them. Then I'll trace over the printed address with a white pen. I have done calligraphy for other people's invitations by hand, but I wanted something really special for our invitations and fell in love with this font.
