Our Story

How We Met

Chris and I met in early August of 2002. We met through friends and immediately had that spark. We went bowling with a big group of people but really spent the evening getting to know one another. We shared bits and pieces of our lives, but at the end of the night I didn't really think he liked me because I was loud and crazy while he was more reserved and quiet. But as he walked me to the car, he took me completely by surprise and kissed me goodnight.

He called the very next day and asked me out on a real date. He picked me up late that night in his bright red Firebird. We talked all night and watched shooting stars for over 5 hours. (There might have also been some kissing, but we'll spare you the details.) Chris drove me home as the sun came up. We repeated this a few nights in a row and both fell head over heels.

We stayed together through the ups and downs for 5 years of long distance while we both attended college. Chris was at Rochester Institute of Technology, while Meg attended The Ohio State University. We put many miles on our cars and paid some pretty large phone bills.

Finally, Chris moved to Columbus when he landed an awesome job at Honda as a Chassis Design Engineer. Meg works for SBC Advertising as an Interactive Project Manager. We bought our first house in September of 2008 and share it with our labradoodle, Moose, and cat, George.

And now after 8 years- we're tying the knot!

The Proposal

We decided to take a somewhat spontaneous vacation to Napa Valley, California in February to get out of freezing Ohio for a few days. We planned the trip in 2 weeks but what I didn't know is that Chris had the proposal planned for awhile. He made a special trip home to Buffalo to pick up the ring and ask my parents. When he got home to Columbus, he hid the ring in his toolbox just to make sure I didn't so happen to "stumble upon it."

Once we got to Napa, it wasn't exactly the sunny weather we expected so when we got a decent morning on Friday the 13th, Chris convinced me to go on a hike up a trail at Skyline Wilderness Park. I thought we were on a hunt for mountain lions and wild pigs.

When we got pretty far up a steep and muddy trail, the sun came out and we had an amazing view of downtown Napa and beautiful vineyards.

We decided to start on our way back down but Chris stopped me and said he had a question for me- he then got down on one knee in the mud, reached into his pocket and pulled out the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen and asked me to marry him!

It was a perfect moment with just the two of us and of course, I said yes!!

We spent the rest of the day celebrating and drinking amazing wine!
