Johanne and Cedric
July 10, 2009

Our Story

Premise: Who says you can't find love in the club? Cedric and Johanne met in Harlem, New York on May 26, 2006. . . Spring was in the air and so was love!

The Setting & Characters: Johanne and her friend Natalie had been out shopping in Harlem and decided they needed a drink. Driving around, they spotted Mocha, a cozy bar/lounge with a small line forming out front. They decided they would check it out and leave if the drinks weren't strong and the DJ good.

Cedric was already there when Johanne arrived sporting her sexy sweatsuit and heels. He was 'hanging with the BRUHS' as the event was sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Cedric was known to hit these "after work" parties as his frat brother Rob often promoted them.

The Plot:

Sitting at the bar, minding her own business, Johanne and Natalie were approached by Cedric and his friends inquiring why two "non greeks", were attending the event. (Cedric thought since Johanne wasn't a "soror" and didn't know him, she'd be a perfect victim). Johanne and Cedric began to talk, her acting non-interested, him pouring on the sarcasm. After a few French Martinis- that Cedric paid for since he claimed 'he knew teachers were broke', they began to dance. Little did they know each had met their match!

That night, Johanne, smitten by Cedric's intellect and wit took his business card and said she'd THINK about maybe dropping him a line. Cedric, a sucker for smart woman, gave her his necktie and said he'd get it back on there first date. . .

Many emails and countless hours of phone chat later, they had a great first date. . . .with a little help from Zagat (Cedric's nickname for his friend who often directed him on where he should take Johanne out on their dates), and many after that. They enjoy going to the movies, fine dining, politics (No, Johanne is not just a pretty face), traveling and cooking (Yes ladies, Cedric COOKS too)! In the last two & half years they have grown close and they are truly best friends!

Chapter II: The Proposal

After just about 2 and a half years of dating and romance- on Christmas Day 2008, Cedric asked Johanne to marry him in the presence of family and friends at her house in Dix Hills Long Island. How could she say no? Apparently everyone there knew about the proposal except Johanne! She was smitten and surprised. .  . . . .but didn't cry! She's saving the tears for the big day. . .

Cedric and Johanne are enjoying their engagement and look forward to sharing the next chapters of their LOVESTORY with you all in the years to come. . . .
