3/7/11 ~ Blue

As much as I absolutely love the color of my bridesmaids' dresses, it is difficult to match - it's not a "basic" color so it's been hard finding paper, ribbon, flowers, etc. in the same hue.  I got lucky on cardstock - "Caribbean" at Cards & Pockets is an almost perfect match - but I'm working on flowers/ribbon now and none of the websites I've looked at let you order samples.  So I'm hesitant to order 20-100 yards of a color that may not be right.  I'll look around town, and maybe out of town, but that might mean paying a heck of a lot more, especially for ribbon.

Then again, if I can find a promising website with a good return policy, I might chance it.

Update: Believe it or not, I found the exact color at Walmart!  Wonders never cease.

2/23/11 ~ 5 Months to Go!

After being in Arkansas for over eight months, Justin will be moving back to Moses Lake next week!  He got a job transfer so he'll start working a few days after he gets here.  With this obstacle out of the way, we can lay more definite plans for after we're married.  When Mom and I heard the news that Justin's transfer had been approved (a process which took well over a month), we celebrated by going shopping on Ebay!  She found her mother-of-the-bride dress and we found a beautiful jewelry set for me.  I'm so excited to see Justin again!

5/19/2010 ~ Invitations!

I finally ordered the paper for our invitations and programs last night!  I'm making the invitations from scratch because it's 1) more fun, 2) less money, and 3) I can make them look exactly the way I want.  Well, almost.  I can't make them look exactly the way I want without compromising incentive #2.  So they're not going to be super fancy bulky, but they will be (in my opinion) very beautiful.  I'm looking forward to receiving it all in the mail - the orders have shipped already!  I love fast service.

3/22/2010 ~ Our Venue

I am so in love with our venue, I wish it were still a real house so we could buy it and live there.  It is Victorian, circa 1904, recently renovated and landscaped.

It has a waterfall . . .

. . . and a koi pond.

This is where I will enter:

and we could have the ceremony indoors . . .

. . . or outdoors.  Because of the number of guests we're anticipating, it will probably be outdoors.

It has some nice places to sit and relax, too.

So glad we found it, and so glad the owner does all the decorating!  I can hardly wait to see how it looks.

3/22/2010 ~ Welcome!

Hi everybody! Welcome to our wedding blog!  The main Project Wedding site has a blog type page, but you guys can't see it.  Here we'll be posting updates on our planning process and whatever else comes to mind that seems worth posting in this particular venue.

Our wedding preparations are well under way.  I am pretty much ready to order paper for invitations and programs, but I want to see if signing up for the newsletters of the vendors I'm using (Paper and More and Cards and Pockets) will get me any special offers, like maybe free shipping from C&P or 20% off from Paper and More?  Also, thanks to my ingenius new program design (designed to use all the leftover paper from the invitations, including the skinny strip cut off from the top of the text paper), I will need to buy more ribbon.  Good thing I found it for really cheap (even cheap shipping) from this craft retailer.

Next on the check list . . . food.  I have got to figure out a) what exactly we're serving, and b) how we're ever going to pay for it.
