I actually met Ryan about 6 or 7 years ago?  my memory is horrible.  Anyhow, he is friends with mutual friends of mine Thommy, Natalie and Bryan.  (Fun fact, i also worked with his best friend Mike Sparks at Tower records for like a hot minute back in 2002? again memory is bad with dates)  I would always see him around at shows, parties, BB-Q's and other events with the Sacramento kids. 

The social butterfly that I am, I would always try to spark up a conversation only to have him mumble a few polite words and scamper away!!   I was like, what the F!  does this dude hate me?  why does he dust me?   Did i mention the dates?  2001-2002?  ya, i was married at the time.... a doomed union from the start, which ended up, ending, a year later.  Little did i know that he scampered out of fear of the ring on my finger...behind his back i called him Frodo though.  so i got him!

after not seeing steph for a number of years, i ran into her at a bar that neither of us ever go to (fate?). she was there with her ex-husband (weird). at the time, i didn't know she was divorced. so when she started drooling all over me, begging me for a date, i was like, "chill out lady. get in line." she gave me her business card and, being the romantic guy that i am, i later went to her office in my helicopter and took her on a date to the moon. i've been in love with her ever since.

Minus the moon and drooling details...the day was pretty much as Ryan explained under my picture.  I went to Streets of London with the Ex and a co-worker and ran into him as he was trying to locate a friend.  We chatted for less than a minute, I whipped out my card (very grown up and awesome of me!!) and he called a WEEK LATER!  yes, a week later.  saying he was all swamped with the last semester of school for his BA or whatever.  Like school is more important than a foxy lady!!!  anyways, i took the call made plans for the following week.....

she's basically right. the only necessary additional detail is that, because i was so smitten with her...and subsequently very nervous, i thought she was a lot taller than me. she was a looming personality that i couldn't stop thinking about...for a week. as it turns out, she's really short.

Ryan:

i put her in a headlock and told that if she didn't marry me I'd pee on her dog.

Stephanie:

*sigh*  Actually it was the sweetest thing I could have imagined.  You know how you picture being proposed to?  ya, this tops it.

It was our one year anniversary, and I knew we had dinner plans and all that normal anniversary stuff.  So when I come home from work, i see an envelope...the envelope leads me on a tour of our apartment.  Complete with a trip to the garage, which is underneath the house. specifically, underneath the front room....so if someone is walking around the floors squeak....see where I'm going with this?

We'll the first note said that he had to run to the store... which I believed...so I assume that a rogue Bum has snuck into the house in my hurrying about to recover clues and I'm a little concerned.  Then I remember the dogs!  it's probably just them skulking around.  (we have a chihuahua and were watching a pug for a friend at the time, which is ridiculous that either of them could have made the floor squeak.. on a side note...I now no longer scream profanities and call the character stupid when watching a scary movie and the girl wants to go up the stairs and investigate an odd Chopping noise)

ANYWAY!... I go back up the stairs, reading my clue and i catch movement in front of me and scream.  He's extremely nervous (ie:pale) and gets down on one knee... I don't remember if he actually said words or if he just mumbled and extended the ring... but i stopped blubbering about how he scared me and exlaimed yes.
