Hello Ladies,
So I took my B-Pics today. It was a great experience and I did not even get to drink the wine that was recommended. However, after this experience I thought that I would offer some tips and my insight.
- A good photographer will make everyone look good. I worked with Brooke Bready of Brooke Bready Photography. She knew when to tell me to move my head, do a small
smile, part my lips, put my hand, etc. I saw some of the pics afterward and I was so impressed with her eye. I made suggestions about poses and she made it happen. Also, she showed the first really WOW picture (Psychology on her part) and
something clicked in my mind.
- You do not have to spend a lot of money. I got a groupon for Brooke Bready for 1 hour of photography with editing and retouching. Only $50.00 vs the $300 sessions I
was being quoted. You can find photographers at Community Colleges, Craigslist, etc. People wanting to build their portfolio.
- Props are great. I brought a few hats, body jewellry from Fredericks, stockings, etc. I really vamped it up. That helped add dimension to the photos as well as
broke up the monotony over 1 hour.
- Get your make up professionally done: I spent some money making myself look really good. The make-up artist knew exactly what to do for photoshoot make-up. That
really made all of the difference. When I saw the initial pictures I could tell that make-up was important. Also, I saw myself with make-up on and I could imagine how my skin would photograph on my wedding day.
- Professional make-up can be done at Sephora, Mac, Ulta, and any Macy's Nordstrom counter. You probably need the new lip gloss or blush anyway.
- Eat breakfast, keep fruit around, and get a meal shake: The meal shake I sipped through a straw after I finished my makeup. I only had to retouch a little gloss.
- Hotel, Hotel, Hotel.: Nothing fancy, but it should be clean, modern, and updated. I cashed in some Marriott points for a night at a new Residence Inn. My
photographer loved the room. I did some research and on Priceline could have gotten some nice rooms for a little money.
- Victoria's Secret and Fredericks are your friends.
- Do at least 1 outfit completely out of the box.: I wore body jewelry. Never done that before. It was liberating. Just a panty, a rhinestone necklace that
went around my waist, and a sheet.
- Be comfortable with your body: I had to tell myself that my fiance loves me naked. He cannot wait to be naked with me. So why was I so nervous giving him
pictures in my lingerie.
- Don't forget to do the following: Shave (bikini, legs, underarm), wax eyebrows, apply false eyelashes, get a mani/pedi.
- Do not wear binding clothes. I took off my jeans and there were imprints on my skin.
So far that is all I have. I hope that all brides definitely try to do this before their wedding. It is a liberating and highly-valued experience.
