Oooh, that's so cute.

RE sewing your own dress... have you sewn formal wear before?  If you have, I'd say go for it.  If you haven't, yeah... a wedding dress is a heck of a project to cut your teeth on.  Have you thought about sewing a rehersal dress?  Or a going away dress to change into for the end of your reception? Those could be lots of fun. :)
