Holy, that was fast. Except for the lack of a dip in the bustline and a row of buttons on the back, and the pleating going down the thigh a bit low, this looks PRETTY DARN GOOD. I knew they'd do better with pleats!! I'm sooo happy and relieved. I wonder if I can just fold and tack in the dip myself...

You know what I just realized? The pleats come down lower because they probably followed THIS picture (one of the many I provided them):

You know what I photo 2128340-1and I'm thinking it looks long on THIS bride because even a small size was originally made super long, and they had to alter it for her by trimming the bottom. Darn, should have been more specific about where I wanted the flare to start. Hope this helps someone!

It's gorgeous! And that WAS quick, when did you order it?!

Helena, I just checked the convo dates on Dressilyme's message board and I paid on 7/27, emailed them pictures for reference 7/28. It was finished 8/11.... less than 2 weeks??

I worry that they rush through things though - as evident in some of the other girls' issues with COLOR oversights, not tacking the ruching down, etc. I'm seeing more problems with this dress, though nothing crazy bad. Just that they could have been easily avoided if they paid more attention, ya know? Like how the pleats are pulled toward the HIP instead of the small of the waist like it's supposed to... One thing I don't understand is why they send a picture "for confirmation" - would they really redo it if I found something wrong that's not totally obvious?

soooo...ashley said their mannequin does not have the same measurements as i do so it would look different on it than on me. to put it nicely. somehow i know i have a shorter torso than what the dress looks like but there's nothing i can do about it. this whole sending-a-picture-for-confirmation thing is kinda like forcing a confession out of you - they'll say stuff to negate your complaints until you give up and say "alright i'll take it". HOWEVER, I would recommend everyone to at least get a picture of the front and back of your dress before they ship it out - if only to avoid any color issues.

Yeah, I asked for a picture.

I'm curious though, doesn't it look like in the first picture like the waist of the dress sits lower than the waist of the mannequin? Maybe she's telling the truth and it is a short mannequin. How tall are you?

08/13/2010 at 02:30 am

hehe you mean a tall mannequin? i'm a shortie! 5'3. It's just that where I see the pleats gather, it seems a long distance away from the top of the bust. Bah, whatever it still came out better than I expected. Hooray for lowered expectations! I have a strong feeling I will need to take the dress in some, judging from how the first dress fit at the top. GAPING WIDE. 2010bride's fashion designer friend was right - you definitely should give them your OVERbust measurement as well. NOW i get it! Dressilyme should include that measurement in their custom sizing.

can't wait to see yours!!!

Did you receive the dress yet?

I ordered a third dress (i'm a masochist ok?) and asked that they combine shipping costs so they're shipping it all together after the 3rd dress is done. Gee I hope there'd still be time for alterations...
