tomboy- be careful restricting calories too much...as your activity level increases, your calories may have to increase as well or your body will think you're trying to starve it...when you hit a plateau (because you will, that's the nature of the beast of losing weight) up your calories for a couple days

Thanks kapathy! A work colleague tried sparkpeople and she lost 75 lbs over the course of 8 months. It definitely works.

Thanks kpathy... good advice.

I had started in December with restricting at 1500-1800 calories but I was still gaining about 1/2 lb a week. I discussed it with my doctor and she advised to drop to 1200-1300. (weight watchers gave a ditto on that number). I think maybe its really low because I'm so short (5ft 3.) and because I work a desk job ... blah.

I've been adding about 200-300 calories on some days after a hard workout... I was feeling guilty about that, but I won't anymore since you said that :)

Are you begining to feel like the resident expert on weight loss?? LOL Its really amazing the progress you've had, and you always have such good advice to share!

I'm right there with being short- you've got 3 inches on me!  I usually eat between 1500-1600 calories a day when I do a normal workout, but that's usually at least 1.5 hours, so I need the fuel!  On days where my workouts are light or less intense, I do stay around 1300.

I'll  be the resident expert- I've learned a lot in the past year of losing weight and I am happy to share my advice and knowledge with others!

Tomboy ~ I was doing core before they switched program and now I mostly eat just filling foods to satisfaction.  I always say I did not gain weight eating bananas!! :)

I was eating 2 point things all the time and very few "natural (filling)" foods.  When I started doing that, it started coming off a lot quicker.  I have about 3lbs to goal and would like to tone up for the wedding.

112709 brings up a good point- make sure you're eating good, whole foods.

I go to a local gym that is directly inbetween my house and my school :)  (literally, it's 6 minutes from both)
