hello PW-land!!

i am very newly engaged and even newer to PW. but let's be honest, i've been unofficially planning our wedding for almost six months now :)

i was very curious as to whether or not anyone knows anything about the 63rd st beach house. i have my heart set on this venue (google image search it and you'll see why), but it seems like there are so many hoops to jump through and the costs keep sneaking up on me. we have quite some time to plan (and save). so we're trying to make it work!

if you have had any experience working with the chicago park district, or more specifically, this exquisite location, PLEASE help me out! share your experience, secrets, advice, etc.

thanks ladies!

Welcome and congrats on your engagement!  I have no experience with Chicago's park districts, but found some info (although probably not 100% what you're looking for) on Yelp...

If it's a Chicago park district you will need to get on the list asap! I don't know much about the 63rd street but a friend got married at the park next to the museum of science and industry and she had to book 2 yrs out.

oh no... well i'll need to look into that ASAP. the only reason we haven't booked yet is because they require a 50% deposit with your application, which is a couple thousand dollars that we don't have quite yet! haha. thanks so much for the input :)

I don't have any experience with the 63rd St Beach house but was strongly considering using one of their other venues, however, after looking through all of the info it would have been extremely costly to host anything there.  Everything is a charge, tables, chairs, you have to rent or buy dinnerware, untensils, cups etc...Not to mention linens, catering, liquor etc....please if you do decide to go through them read EVERY piece of the contract.  I was blessed to get my deposit back because I know someone in the Mayor's office, otherwise I would have been out of my deposit! Hope this helps some...but the place is beautiful and if you can afford it, go for it!
