i am 7 weeks as of yesterday and i am just suddenly feeling SO fat. was doing ok before this, and just today, came home from school and couldnt wait to get my "teacher pants" (and bra!) off right away. ugh my belly is hard and ... huge! this is too soon for baby belly isnt it?? my boobs are also ginormo now too .. but thats understandable! granted i am eating a little more lately bc we got married in dec and i was working out/dieting like a mad woman prior to that, but i feel like a porkchop! suggestions, tips? encouragement? going to go take the dog for a walk now to make me not feel as flubbery. :/

I read up on this last night in my baby book.  If you are showing already in your first trimester, here are a few reasons why:

  • Your digestive tract has slowed down.  Many women get constipated and having digestive problems.  Your body is just retaining more than you're used to.
  • You could be having multiples (twins, triplets). Um...yikes!
  • You could be further along than you thought.
  • You could simply be gaining because you have been eating more than normal.

If you're really worried, talk to your doctor about it.  Have you been to your first dr visit yet?  He/She might be able to narrow down what is causing it, but I wouldn't fret. :)

I have been to the doctor (twice! and ultrasound! - saw 1 hb, no multiples!) and he looked at me like i had 4 heads when i asked about if my weight was healthy. apparently i can gain up to 35lbs without being overweight. so i guess i should worry, but i have always been very "fit" and in shape, so this is shocking me!!

but that first point - about my digestive tract is definitely right on. i used to be a very err ... "regular" girl, now its been 4 days sometimes for barely any relief.

hmph!

I had a problem with constipation with Esme and with this baby - luckily both times it ended about week 11.  Fingers crossed it will for you to.  Could you try really upping your fiber and water intake?

Beware you might have a big baby. I was showing early and ended up with a 10lb 14.8 oz baby and a c section. Atleast you can exercise and walk enjoy it while you can. Everyone carries different and you just might carry big. By the end you will be so sick of people's comments. Good Luck. Happy Pregnancy vibes to you.
