Since today is the anniversary I thought I'd post some pictures of the flight 93 site we went to last yr. The new memorial was started after we had been there so these pics are of the temp. one. Thousands of people visit it daily. Dh and I had gone to Johnstown for the bike rally that weekend and we stayed in Somerset, Pa. Shanksville is between them so we took a little side trip. What an errie feeling, driving threw the small country roads to get to this farmers field. Once you turn on the long driveway and saw everything you get goosebumps and this weird feeling inside of you. If you never have been there, you really should go.Since today

What are all the clothes? Were they part of the passengers' luggage on the flight?

No, that is all kinds of things people left there as they visited, hats, tshirts, pins, patches etc. they way of leaving something of theirs there. Tons of fire depts, police, boy/girl scouts, biker groups etc.

As horrible as all the events of 9/11 were, I am always particularly moved by the stories of Flight 93.  I just keep asking myself whether I would have had the courage to do what they did...sacrificing themselves to subvert a greater evil. Thank you for those men and women.  And thank you for sharing this.
