Sooo.. I don't think I have seen ANY Freddy Krueger movies (except Freddy Vs. Jason) BECAUSE I was scared when I was in 1st or 2nd grade at a haunted house by Freddy.

ANYWAY.. My FI LOVES scary movies and has the whole Freddy series (which we're supposed to watch sometime...)  Well.. he CANNOT wait for this new one!!  (I'm particularly excited b/c some of it was filmed by my work!! :D)

But..  Freddy Krueger is being played by Jackie Earle Haley!

He plays in HUMAN TARGET which I'm a huge fan of :)

This makes me more nervous though to watch b/c he can be soo creepy in Human Target ALONE!

Sigh...

I'm excited but bracing myself for disappointment at the same time. I will definitely be seeing it though!

i love seeing movies that are filmed in places that are familiar to me!

i definitely remember seeing freddy movies as a kid at sleepovers and such... i'm not sure if we'll see this in the theater, but i am very curious to see it.... Jackie Earle Haley was pretty creepy in Watchmen as well. i think he'll be a great freddy! and Thomas Dekker (from the too short lived "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" tv series) is in it as well!

I can't wait to see Nitemare on Elm Street. I love scary movies!

Although I don't expect it to scare me, I'm still looking forward to it.

I'm really not looking forward to seeing this (I know DH is dying to see it). I HATE scary movies, they give me nightmares... even if they aren't really scary.

I thought it was really good!  You can't go in expecting it to be the same Nightmare on Elm St from our childhood.  I found Freddy to be much more menacing and brutal than he was in the original.  In the original series Freddy was almost witty, he taunted his victims more, in this one he just gets 'em!  Also, Freddy himself isn't as scary looking as he was in the originals, he looks more like an authentic burn victim now.  I saw the first NOES when I was like 5, so I didn't remember the whole story behind it, so for part of the movie I felt like Freddy had reason to get the kids, then they revealed it all - Freddy is a real predator nowadays!  Yikes!

I thought it was good, as long as you don't go in expecting it to be the same as the original!  I did enjoy sitting there with my FI too, reminiscing how young I was when I first saw the movies and there I was sitting with my future husband watching it again....

Soo... I was very disappointed. I'm a HUGE Freddy Krueger and Nightmare on Elm Street fan. I sound a lot like misshammy's FI. haha. I have the box set, I have a Freddy t-shirt, which I wore to the drive-in, a bobble head, a lunch box - the works. I didn't expect it to be exactly like the original, but I did expect it to be better than it was.

Just an example: When Nancy is sleeping and Freddy comes through the wall - I hated how they made it "animated" in the new one. SOOO FAKE. At least the original looks more like he's actually "coming through" the wall. STUPID. haha.

I hated the new Freddy actor. Robert Englund did such a better job (JMO!!!), and that was also a huge disappointment (which I was prepared for going in, knowing Robert wasn't the actor).

SIGH. Oh well. One movie that shouldn't have been remade, but was. What else is new.

The only thing I truly enjoyed about it is that we saw it at the drive-in. Made me feel like it was truly old-school. I would have much rather seen the original though.
