A secret wedding registry for the couple as a wedding gift?

So I am a bridesmaid in a wedding for a couple that are planning to move overseas after their wedding. Therefore they aren't registering for traditional gifts as they are taking very little things with them and will buy new things for their home once they move. I found this article about a bridesmaid who created a secret wedding registry for the couple and then tell them about it at the wedding. What do you guys think of this idea? It could end up being a huge surprise with a lot of money for the couple...

I seriously LOVE this idea! If I we're your friend getting married and yall surprised me with this I would be soo happy! That is a great idea!

Thanks for the support! I started setting it up today, I'm just a little concerned about being in charge of the whole thing but I really think it will be worth it in the end when I reveal the surprise. I hope we can get them an amount worth getting excited about! And I hope they don't accidentally discover the site :/ !
