I actually just had my first appointment a few days ago before my IUI. I chickened out from the el cheapo one and met with a fertility specialist instead. Cost was $100 for the first visit $85 for the following visits.
The acupuncturist was not super warm and friendly but she did take a lot of notes about my fertility history and other health issues. I mean a lot of notes, two full pages worth. So I guess that’s comforting. Then she sent
someone else to massage my back first followed by the actually acupuncture, which lasted about 45 mins. She put what felt like 10 needles along my spine and maybe another four on my ankles and feet. It pinched a little but afterwards I fell
asleep. When she woke me up she basically told me that what she did was nothing special or specific to fertility but a general procedure just to relieve my body from stress. She would review my history again and would do some procedure
after my IUI .
Honestly, I don’t know what to make of it. I’m trying to remain positive about the experience but at the same time, it’s one of those things that if I don’t see the immediate effects, I have doubts on it.
I’m going to see her again tomorrow so we shall see.
