I'm a fan of handwritten, and I really dislike labels too. Plus my mom was adamant that we handwrite the addresses, as she'd read somewhere that it was proper ettiquette. I have no idea where she got that, but I was happy to oblige. I have okay handwriting and I just tried to make it look a little nicer than normal.

I handwritten our invites.

We're doing labels (courtesy of Martha) - printing them on vellum paper, then running them through a Xyron sticker machine.

My mom wanted us to do handwritten too, but (1) I didn't think my handwriting was good enough and (2) I didn't want to worry about messing up the envelopes if I mis-wrote the addresses or names. These labels were easy to create, clean, and (I think) unique-looking - plus, it gave me the opportunity to doublecheck addresses before putting on the envelopes.

I'm getting them printed on the envelopes. i like that its more formal and both our handwriting is pretty illegible!

i'm leaning both ways, bc i love the personal touch hand written looks, but in my case i went with labels. I don't think they turned out bad. we used the clear labels and used a nice font. the only problem i found was that when the invite was fed thru the USPS machine, it smudged the printing =( so i got a number of returned mail, double boo.

but if you have the time and/or money and esp patience, hand written is nice. otherwise, labels are great too. they too add a personal touch if you do something like pinky or JDwedding.

We're going with the clear labels as well. We're applying our return address on the envelope tab on the back so it doesn't look funny with two clear labels on the front. jenniD125, thanks for the tip! I better make sure that the ink dries up!

One of my bridesmaids has gorgeous handwriting so she's addressing all the invites. I'm lucky because my handwriting sucks!

I too have heard that etiquette is to address them by hand. My FI was insistent on addressing by printing directly on the envelope. We found a nice font we liked and did it. I tried to talk him into the nice labels that wrap (ala Martha) but he didn't like that idea. We also printed the return address on the back flap and our address on the RSVP envelopes.

I used my printer and printed right on the envelopes in a calligraphy style. They look fab!

if you don't like your writing, try asking a BM or friend?
