Luna's full story...
Luna was found my Animal Control on June 23, 2009. She was roaming the streets, evidently abandonded by her owner, scrounging for food and covered in fleas. She was otherwise healthy though, and Animal Control performed a stress test
on her to see how she was doing, and the person performing the test wrote in the marigin, "Great dog!" She was so sweet to anyone helping her.
She was then moved to the Humane Society and stayed there until September 5, the day we adopted her. That's over 2 months. This is a long time to be in the shelter, and she was getting
close to her euthanization date.
Obviously, the facility works on donations, so it's not the best in the world. She was outside in a cage most of the time, but everyone there loved her. Because she is 2 years old, most people wouldn't adopt her--as was true when we
were there, most people want puppies.
The shelter told us that she had been "adopted" several times, but the people never showed up to pick her up. It was fate, though. The day we walked in, and when we first met Luna we KNEW within minutes she was our dog.
We first saw her in the park on her walk with a volunteer. She was rolling around in the grass, and loved to be petted. Her calm energy made us fall in love right away...she never barked at the other dogs and she loved people.
And those brown eyes make you melt. How COULD we say no?
The shelter worked with us to let us take her home THAT day....she had been there so long, they were so happy to find such eager owners.
We've had Luna for 2 days now. She is getting to know our routine, and it's the best decision we ever made. It gets me a little teary thinking that the day we were getting married, she was sitting in the shelter, just waiting for us
to come.
Here is my baby--

She's a goof and sits on the arm of the couch all the time!
