I know some people have one style and they use it throughout their entire home... I'm on the other side of the fence.  I really love it all and have trouble sticking to ONE decorating style!!  Excuse the crap cellphone pics... it's all I have... :)

Right now our living room, kitchen area has a modern, sort of Asian-influenced feel to it.  Our color scheme is dark woods, with neutral beige (our couch is called coffee- it's sort of the color of a cup of coffee with a good amount of creamer in it) paired with pops of red, light green (sort of a chartreuse color), blue, and aqua.

My current bedroom has black and white bedding with touches of light aqua and pale green.  However, recently I decided I want to get rid of my black fabrics in the bedroom.  We have a white cat who sheds A LOT, and despite constant vacuuming and using a lint roller, our black bed skirt and the black touches on the comforter have no hope of ever looking as they should. 

I have been wanting to purchase this bedding set for a while.  I'll keep touches of black in the furniture and wall hangings.  This bedding has more of a french, shabby chic feel to it.  I envision getting an awesome arm chair and adding a vintage-y dress form to the room as well.

So my question for you is can I do this without giving the impression that I am all over the place with my taste?  Do you think someone visiting would think they were walking through 2 different homes when they see our living room and then our bedroom (with the new bedding)?

I like to have a different feel for each room.

My living room/kitchen/dining area is kind of like a rustic, charm with a 50's vibe to it (really, only because of the colors! HA HA!)

Yet my bedroom is more ROMANCE.  It's not "complete" yet, but the walls are sunset beige with deep plum comforter on our bed with hurrican vases with candles all around, black accents, deep purple curtains, etc.  I want MORE romance... I want it to be our "oasis" :)

And for our future home, we'll totally do a movie theater room and what goes with that?! :)

And I want our outside to be like a french cafe.  I want to get the light posts, a few tables with chairs, burnt reds, blacks and bricks/browns :)

Ditto, I have different styles as well!!  Most of the house is contemporary, but then our dining room is tuscan inspired & very old world feeling.  I think as long as there are elements that tie the house together it's fine...whether it be color schemes, or flooring or similarly colored wood.  I have thought about this many, many times, but the tuscan theme was inspired by the dining table that we got from an antique seller.  It's a very nice table & it just wouldn't have fit in a modern space, so oh well!  I think it adds some "dimension" or interest to the house...at least that's what I keep telling myself :)

I'm glad you all agree with me... variety really is the spice of life an I aim to achieve it in my decorating, while still maintaining some semblance of cohesiveness. :) 

Sometimes my ideas are a little wacky, though... so it's nice to hear your perspective!! :)

I am dealing with the SAME exact situation!! I hope it works well. This is the look(s) I'm gearing towards once we get the keys to our home!

FORMAL LIVING ROOM & FORMAL DINNING ROOM:Sophisticated, shabby chic. White/cream fabrics, dark woods, gray walls, white wainscoting

KITCHEN: welcoming, traditional. Cherry woods, cream tiles, cream paint with white moldings

FAMILY ROOM:neutral, warm, cozy. Over-sized sectional... Cream fabric with a dark espresso leather base. Dark woods. Cream walls, white moldings and an accent wall where the fire place is. Maybe a rich red color or a soft brown....

POWDER ROOM: I want to have the shabby chic old Paris feel. It's not big by any means, but thought it would be a perfect theme for a powder room.

See what I mean! I am just all over the place. It definitely wont flow but I hope it will look good! :/ haha
