Aisle Runner HELP!!!

I went to my venue today to measure the length and width of the aisle which by the way is 100ft long! Anyway I wanted to measure it so I could make a DIY hand painted monogram aisle runner- which I planned to use muslin fabric. However my DOC told me that the pavers that make up the aisle will shred fine fabrics, so I should use a heavier fabric or carpet... now obviously I can't paint carpet so I'm thinking of using a heavy canvas. But I'm really in a panic because if I don't use an aisle runner at all the train on my dress will snag and shred along the pavers when I walk down the aisle! So whats a bride to do?

i have the same problem. i was told im only allowed to use a heavy carpet like runner because they are afraid people will trip over the thinner stuff.. and yes, my aisle is also 100 feet long. i'll let you know when i find something.

Can you perhaps stitch the one above to a heavier carpet or staple it for a tight fit on the bottom of the carpet?

What about some of the aisle runners on save-on-crafts.com? Are those heavier? I would definitely use heavier canvas, like painters cloths. Do you need to anchor the aisle runner because of the pavers, so the wind doesn't catch it? You could put stones down along the sides and cover them with piles or a row of rose petals maybe? Just something to consider!

i'd actually do a carpet aisle runner for 2 things:

1. so my heel doesnt get "caught" between the pavers
2. so the underside of my gown doesnt get snagged

since the carpet is much thicker than canvas, i'd feel more comfy about both the "level-ness" of walking on pavers and my dress...

either way you go - i'm sure once you hand paint it, the runner will look great!!

why don't you try to use denim fabric - that is heavy enough, wind won't blow it and its super durable - try something like this
