All in one locations...

Hi everyone!  I'm planning my wedding for next fall.  How many of you are using one stop locations?  What are the pros and cons for choosing one location for everything?  My sister chose this option for her wedding and she ran into either changing her date or moving her wedding to a different city not to compromise her date....

I used an all in one location. It was ideal for our wedding, because it was a destination wedding. 

Have you found a venue you love? Are there any major concerns you have about using or not using one location??

We are getting married 4 weeks from today (eek!) and the ceremony and reception is at the same location. The ceremony will be outside and then the reception is inside, so to me it is the best of both worlds. Nobody has to drive from one place to another, yet the reception (since it is inside) is not visible from the ceremony. Good luck planning.

Welcome to PW and congrats on your upcoming wedding first off! Second all in one locations can be great for many reasons! Destination weddings are usually a top reason to use one but many weddings are beginning to be like this!

I used an all in one location for my wedding and reception! ( I did have a destination wedding) My guests didnt have to travel exscept from their hotel which was very appreciated!

But as Jess asked have you found a venue that you love? Are you having concerns with having one location? Ie decorating maybe?

Hi and welcome!! We got married in an all in one venue as well! I loved it. People did not have to worry about driving to a destination. A lot of venues are like that now, except if you are getting married in a church. That's usually the main reason to drive from church ceremony to reception space. Like everyone said, have you found one you love?

I just always assumed mine would all in one so I searched accordingly. I loved that after the ceremony people headed straight to cocktail hour (which is what everybody wants to do anyways! JK!)

I put all-in-one venues at the top of my list right away and only looked at a few seperated options in case they didn't pan out. I love the idea of doing it all in one spot.

Do you live in an area where venues book up fast? Maybe that's what happened to your sister? You might have better luck at about a year away from your wedding. I think if I had to do seperate venues to stay in the same area as opposed to driving a very long way to get the all-in-one venue and/or date I wanted, I'd seriously look at the local seperate venues. But my guests not having to drive very far is super important to me. Mine's a vow renewal, though, and not as big of a life-changing event as a wedding! I don't want to make people travel far for what is essentially a fancy anniversary party. If this were my wedding, I'd be less bothered by having them do a bit of drive time.

We are doing an all in one so people won't have to travel since we are getting married in a different city than we live and everyone else lives. I love how they someimes are all inclusive as well so you don't have to worry about getting vendors or set up.

i loved my hotel wedding.  we got married there and had the reception there too.  i love how easy it was.  no transportation issues. for that matter, no wedding transportation even needed.  i also loved that because everything was all in one place the wedding wasnt super long.  when the reception is in a different place you have to take in to account the time to get from the ceremony to the reception for most of the guests.  not to mention getting maps for eveyone for both locations.  that adds time.  and when you take into consideration that most weddings have a coctail hour and then the reception there is also the added time from getting to the coctail hour to the reception area.  depending on how big the venue is and how big the guest list is all the time going to and from locations could add another hour or more.  

Our Venue is a all in one location, They were at the top of my list because i didn't want to make people have to drive from one place to another. 

Pros saves you less research, no driving between ceremony and reception

Cons You are limited by vendors if you had your heart set on a certain place for food, cake, chairs etc you might be stuck with what they give you. 

Availability: I guess it does really depend on where you are and what books fast. If you had a popular date like 9-10-11, 7-7-7, June on Saturdays, etc. I could see you having a problem if its a popular location for weddings.
