Hi Chi-town ladies,

Any recommendations for bridal alterations in Chicago or North/Northwest suburbs?  I need to do this soon...and am open to any advice you have to give!

Just as an FYI, I bought my dress at Kasia's Bridal (in Chicago- west on Irving Park) but don't want to do alterations there for a variety of reasons.  Got lots of beading and lace...and am hoping to keep alterations under $200...think it's possible??

Sorry I am no help!

 Anyone else?

My mom is making my dress (and she's in Indiana), so I'm not sure of any good tailor shops around here.

When I was looking for my inspiration dress, I tried them on at Marilee's Bridal in Arlington Heights.  It's a little shop that is not fancy at all, but they're super sweet there, and I know they do alterations.  I'm just not sure if they do them on dresses that weren't purchased there, but it wouldn't hurt to call them if they're close enough to you.

Check out Mary catomy in Schiller park. She is awesome and really inexpensive. She is a bit short in emails but does a fabulous job and is really nice.

Maria!  As I was looking for a place for alterations for FI's suit today, I came across this one, who has good Yelp reviews...

I thought I'd bump this since it's almost a year old.  I could use some alterations on my dress so I can wear it again on my honeymoon in March.  I want it shortened and the lace-up back replaced with a zipper but I don't want to pay $1M.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I know Mary Catomy's daughter and Mary does FANTASTIC work...she also books up like CRAZY. March might be too soon to be able to use her. Call her anyways and see though, it's wedding "off season" so it might work.

My bridal alts were through the place I got my bridesmaid dresses, Marrilee Bridal in Arlington Heights. I'm not sure they do alterations on gowns not bought through there, but you can check? They let me do it because I bought 8 BM dresses there, and they did FANTASTIC work. And...in 24 hours, because their seamstress was going out of the country.

Good luck! What specific area of Chicago are you looking in?? I can ask around...
