has anyone been watching this season?

i've been enjoying it! i think the contestants are quite talented (some stronger than others, of course) and i don't mind the new judges panel at all. but i never did watch AI for simon cowell or any of the other judges for that matter.

i think my favorites so far are casey abrams (for sure) and stefano langone.

I'm watching.  Loving Casey and James.  Pia and Thea have great voices but I think you need more than that to get me to buy a ticket to see you.  You have to trully entertain and I don't think they are there yet.

Casey is my #1 choice so far. 

I was also happy to see Ashton go.  I started out loving her but then she began irritating me.  I can't pin point why though.

I have been watching- love me some Casey and James too, and I like Stefano as well. :)  I think Lauren Alaina is insanely talented and will make it far, but I was so disappointed in her song choice last week.  I despise Thea.  She is an annoying little girl and is NOT ready.  Sorry~LOL 

I DID boycott it but slowly peeped and now I'm hooked again ;)

I love James (too bad he and I are both married!), Casey, and Lauren. I was really disappointed in Lauren's song choice last week too. Hopefully she has a good one this week. I want to hear her belt out more of "Don't wanna miss a thing."

oh yay! i was beginning to think i was the only one around here watching it!

i wasn't so into james at first because i felt that the high pitched screeching was too adam lambert-like, and i'm really not a fan of adam lambert.... but i have to admit, when james sang the paul mccartney song last week, he got me.

and i do agree that poor little thia is not ready for this... i really liked her during the auditions, but it seems like everything is too overwhelming for her. she seems kinda dead behind the eyes whenever they show her on camera. i wish the judges had told her to come back in a couple of years.

what do you think about naima? she's definitely not the strongest vocally, but i give her props for giving an all out performance last week!

Although Naima is unique and she really knows how to get into her performances, I don't feel like she's got the "it" factor to get her through very far. I think she has a very distinct sound quality that just won't be a favorite of the majority of fans voting.

Then again, I thought the same thing of Fantasia Barrino when she was on the show and she ended up winning.

my thoughts:

first of all, i feel so old seeing these contestants who were singing birth year songs from the 90's!

lauren - so much better than last week

naima, thia, haley, karen - meh...

pia - she has a beautiful voice, but i still want to see something different from her. even though there was a dance beat behind it, she was still singing a ballad...

james - awesome! he sang my absolute favorite bon jovi song and killed it!

stefano - loved it!

casey - i was not too crazy about his performance this week even though he is still one of my favorites.

I'm mad at last night's award show. Although Karen didn't have the greatest performance, she certainly didn't have the worst. Ugh! It frustrates me that contestants are voted to stay on by people who turn it into a popularity contest rather than a talent contest.

What you said about Pia - I totally agree! The judges were all oohing and ahhing about her doing something upbeat, but yeah, it was still a ballad. The music was upbeat, not her singing. But she was still good.

BTW, I have to say, they need to change the name of the show from American Idol to the JLo show, because if I took a drink for every time the camera panned to her, I'd have died of alcohol poisoning!
