Soo I went to Barnes and Noble and found a HUGE selection of baby books. I am mostly interested in baby books about the first year not the pregnancy stuff. I found and liked "Your baby's First Year," but reading the reviews online made me reconsider. I am NOT ok with them advising moms to ween the baby of the breast at 5 months and give them formula. I also read that the book downplays the importance of breastfeeding and that is not ok with me. The "What to Expect the First Year" seemed ok, but a bit generic. Maybe there is something better? I heard a lot about Dr. Sears books, but there are sooo many. I am confused.

Anyone read a baby book that you absolutely loved?

I am more of a "natural" kind of person... I will try to avoid all unnecessary vaccinations and things such as baby TV shows. So is there a good book (that is informative for a young rookie mom like me) that is also more natural?

I found these ones, I read the first one. I try to avoid medication & chemicals for my boys as much as possible, although they have had their vaccinations because I have seen the effect of not having them and couldn't risk that with my boys. I read so many books, and just took from each the parts that made sense to me - I don't think there is one single book that will be able to give you all the answers and info you need unfortunately.

Yes I sort of figured that there is no such thing as a perfect book. I was just really turned off by the advice in "Your baby's First Year." Thank you for the advice :)

Could you tell me the story. I mean I do not want to freak myself out, but I would like to know some real life examples. What vaccinations were skipped and what happened?

Dont stress yourself out already doing all this research - you have a few months before you need to do that :) It sounds like you're doing a great job already as a mom.
I bought the baby's year week by week - but I honestly haven't even opened it yet. I just wanted something where I could see what developmental milestons they should reach each week. As far as advice from the book I'll only take it with a grain of salt. I think you just need to do what's best for you and your baby and I think instincts have a lot to do with that.
I know Dr Sears books are an amazing resource that a lot of mom's trust.

Absolutely Andreajs3 - books are great for hints and tips, but only a mommy can know what's right for her baby. I think my huge library of books were most beneficial when my friends all got pregnant than for me because I shared them around and saved everyone some money!! Lol
I'm big into researching **everything** so wanted to know all I could (then found out I was expecting twins and all my reading went out of the window!) but every baby is different - my boys are polar opposites!!

Please don't panic about making decisions right now olga21 xx You have so much time to make decisions about your little one, and as scary as it all might seem now you will know what's right.
I have unfortunately seen babies with measles and with meningitis, one of who lost his fight and one that had to have his foot amputated. That being said, my brother was very adamant about not having his son vaccinated and found alternatives that suited him like single vaccines instead of the combined one. There are options for you, although I can't give you specifics unfortunately because all of my knowledge is from England and their systems are very different.

Your doctor will be able to give you all the information you need when the time comes so relax and enjoy your pregnancy xx

I highly recommend Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and Happiest Baby on the Block. Those books saved my life.

If you are worried about Vaccinations just try delayed vaxing. We did all the ones they recommended (besides a few that I felt were just dumb) but instead of doing 4-5 at a time we only did 1-2. More doctors appt. but it satisfies the Jenny McCarthy and the Dr. in ya.
