Which schools?

How hard was it to get in?

I just changed my major to pre-nursing and I keep hearing how hard it is to actually get in... Just wondering.

I go to NKU highland heights (right next to cincinnati ohio)

Its rediculous to get into. So I switched to rad tech. I applied last year. Over 300 students applied for 27 spots:(

Wow, that is crazy! Good luck to you though... Do you like radiology tech so far?

I go to Northwestern State in Louisiana.  Our program is definately hard to get into but the good thing is, there are two different locations to apply to.  I used to stress about getting in because of all the rumors that you will hear.  But once I was accepted, and finished my first semester of it, I realized that everyones experience is different and you can't really base your opinion after others experiences.  My one word of advice, don't listen to anyone else when they say it is hard to get in or that you'll cry every day while in nursing school.  I did stress about getting in but just worry about your GPA and how well YOU are doing, not anyone elses.  Also, go speak to advisors and definately get there opinion so you know how their decisions are weighted.  Ours were based on your GPA, total credit hours, and how you scored on the TEAS (with GPA being the biggest factor).  I wish you the best of luck and just focus on how you're doing, not on how others are doing or whether they think it will be hard or not.

Thank you so much for your advice.  My FH told me the same thing. He reminded me of even in my current job and my previous position that I was in for 9 years how much others complained about it and how I thrived and loved it.  I was looking for advice from others because this is new to me and I like to reearch and all of that... But after being on allnurses.com and reading some of the things on there, it literally scared the crap out of me.  Some people don't think that you should have to work hard for anything and I understand that, so I know that I can't use their advice and take it to heart.  It's refreshing to find someone that is excited and optimistic about the field.  I want to go into nursing and eventually after a few years become a SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner).  It bridges the 2 fields that I'm most intrigued with (nursing and criminal justice).  So we'll see how that goes.  Good luck to you and thanks again.  BTW, I don't comment or post often but I see that you always give good advice to others and you always are very detailed and encouraging.  I'm sure others appreciate that as well.  :-)

Oh, and I am still researching a few schools in Baltimore but I'm interested right now in Community College of Baltimore County and then going on to John Hopkins for their RN to BSN program after that.

Hey, I am finishing up my last semester of nursing school in Florida. I currently go to Saanta Fe College and I will have my RN degree and we have a program set up to bridge through UCF for our BSN. Our program is super competative to get into and it is also super difficult. We, thus far, in 4 semesters have lost about 30% of the students that entered with our class in August of 2008--eck!

I think it is fantastic so if you really want to do it then by all means, we need good nurses!

Tanesha1978 - Thank you so much!  I truly appreciate that.  I really do try to be as helpful and as positive as possible.  My parents taught me that it's best to be positive and help people as opposed to being negative and blow people off.  Ha ha.  I have loved medicine since I was little and I have always wanted to be a nurse.  I think it's great that you want to link nursing and criminal justice together too.  A mentor of mine did the same thing and she does such an amazing job at it, which I'm sure you will too as you seem very passionate about it.  Also, JOHN HOPKINS?  That's amazing!  I hope you get in because that would be an absolutely amazing opportunity!  I'll have to be sure to check in every once in a while and see how it works out for you.

I'm going into my 2nd semester of nursing school. It took me FOREVER to get in. I just applied to multiple schools and finished all my pre-reqs while waiting... I can't wait for May 2011 to get here!
