We're getting married "alone" without guests in Grand Cayman. This sort of limits the amount of planning and organizing we get to do *haha* Is anyone else doing that?

I wish!!  Our original thought was that we would get married in Hawaii because no one would come and it would just be our immediate family.  Well, we were wrong.  50 guests later I am very, very happy that we are leaving for another island a few days after our wedding!

Don't get me wrong, I love my family and I'm glad that they are coming - it's just not what we envisioned at first.  I think it's awesome that you and your FI are getting married 'alone', I think it's more special with less people.

No. I actually want people there and am a little worried about how many will actually show. I would love to have 50 guests!

I'm a little torn - it'd be nice to have our closest families there, but at the same time it's going to be special with just the two of us.

Our reason to be "alone" is a practical one though - his family is in the US and mine is in Sweden, so either way one family would have to spend a small fortune to travel to the other country for a wedding.

We had 4 guests, so it was really small.  We would have had it alone if no one had wanted to pay to come though.  It did really cut way down on the planning/organizing, which was the thing I loved!

We def wanted people there. We wanted no more than 50-60 guests. Well 50-60 is quickly turning into 100. So full blown wedding-destination style.

But this has a lot to do with the fact that we are both jamaican, having the wedding in jamaica and have some family living in jamaica as well.

If we went to say Hawaii, this would totally cut the list to like 20. But we couldnt picture getting married anywhere else.

No but we are on the low end for guests. We will have 30 max, but maybe more like 20

This is exactly what we're thinking about doing. It was our original plan, but family of course wanted this huge thing so we caved. About a week ago we revisited this idea and both agree that it would really be the thing to make us happy. Are you planning an AHR? We're a little confused as to what to do there.
