While doing my research for having a wedding in August these are some of the things I found that helped me along the way. Someone said that August starts the change of the season and that our wedding colors and flowers can reflect this sense of the season.

Here are a list of colors that fall into an August scheme (even though we kinda go with whateva we want and these colors become secondary to what we really want)

       Yellow

  • Goldenrod
  • Sunflower yellow
  • Saffron
  • Dandelion

      Orange

  • Pumpkin orange
  • Peach
  • Tangerine
  • Dark salmon
  • Mango
  • Terra Cotta

     Browns with contrasting colors

  • Champagne and baker's chocolate brown
  • Deep brown and ivory
  • Cinnamon and orange
  • Black brown and ice blue

    Grey

  • Pearl grey
  • Dove grey
  • Steel grey
  • Slate

      Contrasting Colors

  • Light grey, orange, and cream
  • Medium grey, deep butter yellow, and ivory
  • Deep brown, maple red, and slate
  • Wine or burgundy, wheat, and deep or navy blue
  • Goldenrod, violet, and burgundy
  • Wine w/ Claret accents
  • Chocolate, black, and gold
  • Forest green and brown
  • Midnight blue and orange
  • Jade, maple, and ivory

FLOWERS IN SEASON

My favorite Dahlias are in season, Sunflowers, Gardenias, Wild Flowers, Gerbera Daises, Zinnias, Rose, Dahlia, Gladiolus, Chrysanthemum, Allamanda, Bougainvillea, Aster, Marigold, Stephanotis and Salvia's

Filler flowers are usually varieties of limonium or gypsophilla. Carnations are available year round as well as Roses, Hydrangeas.

Remember you can get any flower you want it just depends on what is in season.

I found this on the GET MARRIED website and wanted to share:

1. REGISTER! REGISTER! REGISTER!
It’s the only time when everyone who loves you, everyone who hates you, everyone who works with you has to buy you a gift! Just kidding. But you do want to make sure that your guests have the opportunity to give you something that you really want, that you need and will use.

2. Search for services.
Register at stores that offer great registry rewards and an on-line registry service. This should be a great experience for both you and your guest. There are some great services available so take advantage of them.

3. Limit the choices.
Don’t register at more than three establishments. When you have a lot of different registries, you confuse your guests. Too much choice leads to uncompleted registries. Having three registries is also easier to manage.

4. This is all about you, not your mother.
Make sure to register for things that you will need and use and not what others are telling you to register for. Listen to your mother – but only remember 10% of what she says! Remember; she went through this and feels she has much to offer, but don’t forget this involves your registry decisions and your table, not hers.

5. Register early.
You’ll want to take advantage of all those bridal events prior to your wedding like engagement parties, showers, showers at work, get-together parties. And don’t forget to check your registry often on-line to make any adjustments.

6. Don’t be stingy on the number of items you register for
Make sure to register for enough items (1.5 gifts for each person you invite) and at many different price points ($25, $50, $100, $350, etc). This makes it easier for your loved ones and group work friends to buy you the gifts you want.

7. Get the groom involved.
He can register for the things that he likes such as crystal glasses for the bar or entertainment center.

8. Don’t make it a crowd scene.
Take very few (if any) people with you when you register. Too many opinions will only confuse the issue.

9. Register for the BASICS
Look for items you’ll need to entertain with style for the rest of your lives such as dinnerware, stemware and flatware services for 12.

10. Don’t Register CHEAP!
Register for quality items that will make your life easier without giving up on luxury, such as microwavable fine china like porcelain and dishwasher-safe crystal. Eventually, they’ll become your family heirlooms.

great info! one of my married friends gave me great advice about registering: she said make sure that you register for expensive things too, bc some people will want to spend more or go in together on a gift! :) my mom was a great help with registering bc she's very practical too!
