Average cost of floral centerpieces

I'm planning on having simple floral ararngement of hydrangeas, tulips, and roses for centerpieces. I told her nothing fancy, just tasteful and elegant. Vase size is 4 " x 4" x 8" square vase. My florist is quoting me around $55 per arrangement. Is that reasonable? I've talked to 3 other brides and they said it's reasonable/alright/sounds about right. However, i'm having 35 tables (ugh typical chinese banquet reception) and that times 50 is a hefty chunk of change.

What are your thoughts? How much did you pay for your centerpieces?

That sounds about right. I have a friend doing the arrangements, and she's trying to keep it to about $30/table for just supplies. She's not charging us for set up or labor. Have you asked if there's any way to reduce the price? Maybe see what you can get for $30 or $40.

I DIY'd my centerpieces, made about 12 at $32/centerpiece.  I know that if I had a florist do it, I would have easily paid anywhere from $60-80/centerpiece.

I went downtown on saturday to do a trial DIY centerpiece with 3 votives, 2 small square vases and one 16 inch cylinder.  Just for the supplies alone it came out to $17 per table.  The flowers ( which I will get from the flower mart) will make each table $21.    The flowers from the flower mart are so cheap it really helps keep the  cost down.  It sounds like the labor is what is causing the price to go up

That's about right. Mine are $50 each and I am getting them through a very cheap florist. Other florists qouted me $100 for the same centerpieces.

sounds about right. i got quotes from 4 different florists and the centerpieces ranged from $50- $70.

i'm paying $50 for the low ones (PIB) and then $65 for the high ones that will be on candelabras (and fuller)

Seems like a good price to me!

We're doing submerged flower cps... total each one costs $50 or so, for the vases, flowers, etc.  I'd say DIY if you can!

Wow thank you so much everyone! All of your comments are so helpful! My alternative was to rent ice buckets for my champagne and use that as centerpieces and my florist was going to drape some florals on the side (not sure what that is suppose to look like). If I did that she could do it around $30. That will still cost me around a grand.

And then I think to myself if I even want centerpieces. Most Chinese restaurants will remove centerpieces on the lazy susan once the food comes out. This is so frustrating and I am too indecisive.
