AW: Bedroom Update!

We've been in our house for almost 3 years now (!) and the only rooms that remained essentially untouched were the master bedroom and bathroom. I always tend to fix the rooms people see the most, first (when in actuality, I probably should do it the other way around).

But a crappy mattress changed all that within the last two weeks, so I wanted to share :)

This is the only "before" picture I have, which is a photo from the original real estate listing:

We ve been in photo 3255241-1 The room has essentially looked just like this (80's ceiling fan, yellowy paint, and all!) for the time we've been here. All we had for furniture in there was a large armoire that was relocated from the family room, the bed with very simple bedding and no headboard, and two white nightstands I painted a long time ago.

It was like college all over again, and I was over. it.

When I discovered that our mattress was starting to sag on one side, I brought it up to DH and the stars must have aligned or something, because he agreed to finally getting a new bed and REAL bedroom furniture - no questions asked. Yay!!

We bought a king-sized Tempurpedic and actual matching furniture, which was delivered in a flash. So little time, in fact, that we only had time to paint the walls (BM Stonington Gray) and install a new fan. The floors will have to wait until we're ready to move the behemoth of a bed again!

But it's 150% better than what we had!

We ve been in photo 3255241-3 (The gold mirror came with the house and I've been planning on painting it forever. Now I finally know what colors to work with!)

We ve been in photo 3255241-4 (I'd be perfectly fine without a ceiling fan, in favor of a pretty chandelier... But this is Florida and DH wasn't having it. Not to mention buyers generally expect them in the bedrooms in our area.)

The curtains are really a departure for me, but I love them! They're these:

I've got a few other things on the way to accessorize, but I still need something for over the bed. There is also a big empty wall by the bedroom door (not shown) where I think I'll do a gallery arrangement. And I'm thinking I'll pull the coral/salmon and the green out of the curtains to use as pops of color elsewhere, like linens and pillows.

Great job!  Looks amazing and I love those curtains!!    I went for a bold colorful pair in the kitchen and DH fought me on them but now he likes them! :)

I feel the same about the ceiling fan.  I don't use ours in the bedroom and it's such a dust collector so I've used allergies as my excuse to DH to get rid of it...however, he hates the idea of a chandelier so we will probably update with a newer ceiling fan :/

and I want a king sized bed soooo bad!

Love your headboard and the dark furniture. DH and I went with dark furniture too.
