Whew. Okay, after much blood, sweat, tears, and hours of watching Breaking Bad and Jersey Shore while crafting, the Fubby and I have finished our save the dates and they came out better than I expected! While I was the one crying over the exacto
knife and the endless amounts of paper to cut, they really wouldn't have turned out this well if the FI hadn't scoured the internet to find the perfect paper to print on and my brother hadn't taken the time to design/clean up the logos and print
them out for us.
So, without further ado, the Alice meets Wonka Save the Date :)

The tags were cut out using card stock paper and a weird design puncher for the edges that I got at michaels. Then I bought three gold pens and went to town! As annoying as it was to write "unwrap me" on both sides (I wrote "unwrap" instead of
"open" because there is a sticker on the envelope already that says "open me"), it saved some time in having to line up the tags accurately so that when they are tied on, the words are showing.
Hey! Guess what they DON'T make anymore?!
Wonka bars!
You can only buy like 6 at a time off of amazon or ebay (sometimes slightly more, but not enough for it to be worth it), and at the wonderful rate of about $2.50 each, that was going to make a very
steep save the date for 150 people BEFORE postage, tickets, tags and other fun things. So we ended up buying 150 of these beauties (for only 80 cents each).

My brother then used his mad creative design skills to clean up the colors on the old Wonka logo and design a golden ticket for us. Then, because the labels and tickets
aren't a convenient 8x11 paper size, I had to cut each one out using a ruler and exacto knife.
Then the assembly began!
Remove Hershey bar wrapper, carefully open foil, slip in golden ticket, close foil, apply new Wonka wrapper.
And voilà! In no time (and by that, I mean in like 72 hours), your place will be looking like mine..... a Wonka factory!
The picture of the ticket makes the words hard to read, but
in person, it actually is pretty lovely. It has that true gold look to it just like in the movies (we used gold foil to print on. For more information on how to do that, see this video)
The main content on the ticket says "It is with joy
and excitement that we request the honor of your presence at the marriage of Jane and FI on the very important date of Saturday, September First, Two Thousand and Twelve."
And then our wonderful Project Wedding wedsite.
:)
Once each and every bar was unwrapped, ticketed and rewrapped, we then added a string with the "unwrap me" tag to help tie in the Alice theme, as the majority of it is pretty wonka-ish. But we wanted the candy bar to carry a cohesive
look rather than feel like it is being pulled in two different directions.
Hope you like!

Don't do this if you have a craving for chocolate. It's just all
around not good for a diet :)
