AW: Newborn Photos!

This little gal is two weeks old tomorrow - she is my best friends new baby.  They asked me to come over and spend the day taking photos of her and it was so much fun!

The only sucky thing was their house is *really* lacking in natural light.  It's tucked in the trees and we had to rearrange some furniture to get near the one window that had anything coming into it -  a glass door.  Ugh.  I was really hoping to get those soft, bright natural baby photos, but had a tough time getting them with the lighting situation at their house.  I didn't want to use a flash, the only artificial light was incandescent and fluorescent, and even my reflector wouldn't pull enough light from the window.  Super frustrating.  So I had to bump up the ISO and shoot with my 50mm 1.8, which made me feel very limited.  That's life though!  :)

Baby Kahlan was SUPER alert all day.  Totally odd - I was expecting a doughly pliable little tiny sleepy baby, and she just wanted to look around. :)

Here are some of my favs, regardless!  Who doesn't love looking at babies?

Her father went to change her diaper, put their rings on her fingers, and called me in for this shot!

That last picture is stunning! My favorite of the whole set, although they are all cute:)

I like the last picture the best too!  Not only the composition is good, the lighting and shadow are perfect!  Great set.

MB: These don't look too grainy (ala high ISO) but have you run them through lightroom or noiseware? I always try one of the two with my higher ISO pics...helps sometimes :) Also makes those baby photos look super creamy and smooth. I like that look with infants since their skin is so perfect.

Also, what lens were you using?

PS: love 1,2,4! :)

Thanks KatieRose!

I was using my 50mm 1.8, since it's the fastest lens I own.<----Can't wait to get an upgraded version of it. . .love having that wide aperture, but it *is* for all intents a cheap clunky lens!  :)

The 18-105 / 3.5-5.6   just wasn't going to cut it without either flashing or really bumping up the ISO :(

Good idea to run it through noise reduction - I'll see what I come up with!
