We got our first RSVP from a guy telling us he was bringing a "guest." Not only does this guy NOT have a steady girlfriend, but we didn't want to invite him in the first place (long story...). So for him to ask to bring a guest? uhuh.

Here was my response to him via a FB message:

Hey Brandon,

We got your invitation today! But unfortunately, our budget and space at the venue is extremely tight, so because of that, we can't accommodate additional guests—I had to even make some guest list cuts to family friends.

I'm so sorry and hope you can still make it!

Ugh. I hate awkwardness, but seriously?! We had to cut some of my favorite family friends just to make sure we have enough room, so I definitely don't want some guest I don't even know. I hope that was polite enough.

ugh...how annoying! How did he respond?

Why are people so lame?! I had a couple RSVP and include their 17 yr old son, who was NOT invited. And similar to you, these people BARELY made the list in the first place! I'm wondering if I should send a similar email to them. Yours was perfect! Did you get a response yet?

I did get a response. He was cool about it and said he understood.

Andthen yesterday I had another friend ask if he could bring a date, and I responded with the same email. I haven't heard back from him yet, though.

I just don't get it! I mean, I would be way more understandable if these people actually had girlfriends/boyfriends, but they don't have anyone steady...they just want to bring someone. AND! They'll know people at the wedding. Not just a few people, but MANY people, so it's not like they'll be alone! Silly people.
