Trying to Conceive

Bad news...

Went to the OB-GYN today. I've been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).Pretty much it means that my body doesn't ovulate on it's own. I am now taking progesterone to try and get my periods back. If we do happen to eventually get pregnant there is still a very high risk of miscarriage, gestational diabetes, and premature birth.

Pretty sad :( I never saw this coming...

Also, my uterus is tipped backward. She said this isn't a huge deal, but there's a small chance it can cause infertility as well.

my sister has pcos so i know a lot about it and we've done a lot of research.  she is currently trying to get pregnant and has been on metformin (supposed to help the hormones) and provera (to induce periods) for 4 months.  she is about to start her first cycle of clomid (makes you ovulate) next month and will take it for 6 cycles, unless she gets preggo sooner.

many women with pcos successfully conceive and give birth to healthy babies.  i know it's a bummer but don't get too down. i personally know 4 women who have pcos (not counting my sis) who all have babies, even though they had to be on medication to make them ovulate in order to conceive.  try to stay positive! it can happen for you, just might take a little more effort (medication) than others!

I'm so sorry to hear that--have hope though!  My old boss was told that he had really low motility, his wife had a tipped uterus and a few other fertility issues--they now have 4 beautiful kids.  Good luck!

pcos is rough....have you looked into clomid? I've heard of great results with it for people with pcos. Don't lose hope!

Thanks girls. *crying* you have given me so much hope. Since DH and I are currently not TTC until next year, she just put me on the progesterone. One we start trying I'm sure I will be on the three pills jezzebel listed.

I think it will be ok :) and I appreciate all of your support.

I told DH that we should start trying not because it could be 10 years lol.
