Oh man, I love baking, but when it comes to adding/augmenting the cake batter, I am not very talented in this manner.

How do I go about changing a white cake batter to blue without making it too liquidy?  TIA ladies!!!

Just a couple drops of blue food coloring should do the trick without changing the batter. I made rainbow cupcakes that way. :)

Thanks Miss_Jules!  I'm going to give that a try.  I'm making a cake for our niece's sweet 16, so I need to practice.  : )

Ditto the coloring.  You don't need much at all, so it shouldn't really alter the liquidness (not a word) of your batter. :)

Yep.. food coloring should work just fine!

I highly recommend the Wilton brand that they sell in small containers at Michaels.  It's more of a gel than a liquid, and it creates really great, bold colors!

Thanks ladies!  I am going to be baking tonight - started getting everything ready last night, but did not have the blue food coloring...OOPS!  Will post up pics when I am done!

I love the Wilton brand kat.m, I have used that before.  : )

It depends on what shade you want it.  If you want a deep blue, you will need to add a lot of food coloring.  The Wilton kind should work fine.  If you're wanting a soft blue, it won't take much.

I finally got a chance to make the cupcakes, although I never got out to get the Wilton. The food coloring seemed to do okay. I don't have the pics here on my laptop but I will upload them tomorrow.  Everyone loved the taste testing and I believe that we will be making 100 for the birthday party.  : )

I finally got to upload the pics on my laptop.  Without further ado...here is how they turned out.

I finally got to photo 3237001-1

I iced them with chocolate fudge frosting.  Thanks ladies for all the input!!!
