So DH and I never thought we would be the kind to chart and carefully plan pregnancy based on body temps ovulation etc...

Well, with my recent diagnosis, we've realized that it could be quite impossible to get pregnant unless we really know whats going on. So we are going to start charting my temps. We aren't going to start TTC until next November, but charting now couldn't hurt, and it will also help tell if the meds are working. Because I should be ovulating normally now on these meds after a while. Fingers crossed!

All I know is the basics that I've seen you ladies talk about on here, wake up in the morning, before I get out of bed take my temp and when it rises .5-1 degree I should be ovulating. Right? Or is it when the temp drops?

Anything else I should know about this? Thanks ladies!

orally and you wait for a consistant shift in temperatures over the coverline. Try using Fertility Friend it takes the guesswork out of charting and tells you when the shift has occured. Just rememeber...once the shift is registered it is usually too late because you already ovulatated you might get in one more BD session in on the O day for the month. The days leading up to the O are your most fertile so you need to pay attention to you cervix softness and position as well as cervical fluid.

Also read the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" even with two completely normal healthy people there is something like a 25% chance of getting preggo on your first try even if you time every correct so don't dispair!

@hearts.....I second the comment by SummerBride to start using FertilityFriend.com, it makes charting REALLY easy!  Also, remember to sign up for the online courses.  They deliver one "lesson" to your email box every second day or so that gradually teach you all you need to know about charting.  They are quick lessons and easy to understand so they are definately worth the time.

I take mine orally with a digital.  I also use fertilityfriend.com.  It's super easy and it's free.  I've only be charting for about a month and a half, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. 

If you are charting by hand, I think the rule is that your temp has to go above (and stay above) the temps for the last 6 days by at least .1 degree.  So if your highest temp in the last 6 days is 97.4 and you go up to 97.5 or higher and stay there, then you most likely O'd. 

Just a warning on fertility friend if you start using it...sometimes it won't tell you you O'd until you have 3 days or so of high temps.  So you will think you O'd, but FF won't show it for a couple of days.

I think I misunderstood my meds though :( I guess premitrium only gives me "fake" periods. So I'm not really ovulating. The main point of the premitrium is to make me have a period every once in a while to lower the risk of uterine cancer. I am going to take a 10 day cycle of the pills every other month, and doc hopes my periods will start naturally coming back every so often on their own.

In order to actually ovulate every month I have to get on metformin, but we aren't TTC yet so I think tracking my fertility when I'm not fertile is going to be incredibly difficult lol :/

I'm going back to the DOC on Dec 8th and I am going to talk to her more about when I will be switched to metformin (how soon before TTC should I start it), and how I can track my ovulation when it's going to be so unpredictable...
