Oki, so I'm going in on Oct. 11th to get some BC for the very first time.  I'm hoping to get something that will also take care of acne.  Do any of you have recommendations on what you use?  TIA!

I use apri. Its a low dose estrogen pill. I have never been able to take a full dose. I all of a sudden have acne though.

I originally got my BC for acne. I use Zovia (actually I get the generic form-Kelnor) but I've had good luck with it since I started BC in high school. My dermatologist suggested it. lol. My skin is not perfect, but much better :) BC is very individual though, so good luck and I hope you find one that works for you!

I use Micorgestin which is one of the lowest dose pills that you can get. It's kept my skin so clear and I get maybe one or two zits per year. I absolutely love it!

P.s. I wouldn't even consider the depo shot. I got pregnant on it (I was less than half-way through my dose) and I ended up miscarrying because of the chemicals in it.

Mircogestin is great if you are just starting out.  I have been taking it for over 6 years, and I just went to the gyno for the first time in two years this past Tuesday and she said that after taking it as long as I have, the inside of your uterus starts to atrophy and you start spotting and/or missing periods (this is consistent with what has been happening).  The problem is that you can't go that long on a progestin-only pill; your body will eventually need estrogen.  The weird thing is that I first started taking Microgestin because a stronger pill was making me spot!  Anyway, I will be starting Ortho-tricyclen soon due to my various issues.

The most important thing to remember that everyone is different; listen to your doctor, and take others' personal experiences with a grain of salt.  If you run into any issues with what is prescribed to you, do not hesitate to report this to your doctor so that the appropriate BC can be provided for you.

I was on Yasmin but it seriously didn't agree with me. I got so down and cranky!! Now I'm on Loestrin which is a low dose oestrogen one and it works much better.

Thanks for sharing, ladies.  I'll definitely keep these in mind; is it weird that I'm actually kind of excited about it?  FH and I are waiting until we're married to DTD, so I guess that's it...
